Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev says he is thankful for the positive responses after he wrote 'no war please' on a television camera.

Let's understand that these guys are tennis players, not experts on international affairs and geopolitics. For what it's worth, he seems somewhat genuine and passionate towards other's well being and for me, that's enough.

With all due respect, you don’t need to be an expert on international affairs to condemn what’s going on in Ukraine. You just need to be a human being, with a heart, and at least an ounce of empathy for fellow humans.

In the ATP250 here in Marseille in February, a few days before the war started, Andrey Rublev played the double with Denys Molchanov, who is Ukrainian. I think that was quite a powerful message too. Plus, not only Andrey won the single title but, with Denys, they won the title in double! I wish his fellow citizen Danil Medvedev would take inspiration from that ....

They’re not in the US, there are often consequences to these things in Russia, this is why I don’t blame Russian public figures for not speaking out. Now this guy has the cojones of a bull.

@@notoriouscrank each of us performs some social role, performs some profession. However, we all have the right and even the duty to react to evil and meanness. That's what Andrei Rublev did. Medvedev prefers to close his eyes to the reality in which his countrymen are murdering innocent Ukrainians today ...

People need to realize that politics cuts across all sectors of life ! I. Todays World we all must stand up against inhumanity against our fellow humans and take a stand ! People fear taking a stand for fear of retribution! History has taught us thus far ! We have not learnt from it ! This it keeps repeating itself ! It was Chechnya, now Ukraine 🇺🇦, who is next ? So collectively we must let our voices be heard and let us use the platforms we have . Abundant life for all ! So let us not sit and act like the war in not on my door , so I could care less ! We know better and we all can do better ! Enough !

I guess United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson should not have flown to Kiev to tell Zelensky that the US and UK would not allow a peace deal in Istanbul. This war is awful for Ukraine and Russia ... just what NATO wanted all along.

the smart move would've been to stay neutral, guess he'd like to go back to motherland Russia sometime in the future; at the end of the day its the country and culture he grew up in; maybe a more warm statement like Daniil

@@alesh2275 true and Rublev does live in Monaco but I still think he would like to go back someday, I mean wouldn't you like to go back to your home country if you ever left it ?

@@notoriouscrank obviously a lot of immigrants never go back to their countries of origin so the answer to your question should be “not necessarily”
