That lead singer is none other than the incomparable legend, Freddie Mercury - the greatest showman, vocalist, and composer in rock history. Watch and react to more and you'll understand why. I'd suggest reacting to "Somebody to Love (Live at Montreal) next. It is incredible and was actually Freddie's favorite Queen song. A little background about Queen: They're a British rock band that was formed in 1970. Although they're rock, they vary their sound album to album and track to track, and have incorporated everything from rockabilly, disco, folk, ragtime, and even opera into their sound at one time or another. They're known for their charismatic stage presence and for hits like: We are the Champions, We Will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust, I Want It All, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Bohemian Rhapsody (which you listened to), and tons more. Odds are you've heard Queen a million times but just didn't know who they were. The band is made up of Freddie Mercury (lead vocalist and front man), Roger Taylor (drummer), Brian May (guitarist), and John Deacon (bassist). All of them are EXTREMELY talented and accomplished and are one of the only bands where every member has written a number one hit. Queen had a stunning 20 year long run filled with many, many world tours and 15 studio albums. It was all tragically cut short in November of 1991 though, as Freddie died of complications due to AIDS. He worked right up until he died though, with his final song (almost) completed just weeks before he passed. Following his death, John Deacon retired from music. In an effort to keep Freddie's legacy alive and to honor his memory, Brian and Roger continued Queen and still do to this day, currently touring with Adam Lambert.

Michael Jackson was a huge Queen fan. He collaborated on a few tracks with Freddie, but Freddie couldn’t take it anymore when Michael insisted on bringing a llama into the studio. MJ did convince them to release “Another one bites the dust” as a single. (The live version at Wembley in 1986 is excellent) In 2014, Queen did release a Freddie/Michael collaboration on a compilation album called Queen Forever. The band was together from 1971-1991 when Freddie died. But, he left behind so much recorded music that they eventually went back into the studio and pieced together the album Made in Heaven in 1995. I’m sure that you know other Queen songs. We Will Rock You & We are the Champions especially. Their live performances are almost always better than the studio version. They were a UK rock band, although they didn't just do rock songs. Their music covers many genres, from speed metal (Stone Cold Crazy live at The Rainbow) to music hall/ragtime (Seaside Rendezvous) and from diss tracks (Death On Two Legs) to love songs (You Take My Breath Away live at Hyde Park 1976). They all wrote hit songs for the band. Freddie had the stage presence and personality to have any crowd eating out of his hand. Not to mention there wasn't much he couldn't sing, he had an amazing vocal range and unique vibrato. They literally rocked the world in July 1985 when they were one of the many acts that performed for the charity concert Live Aid to raise money for Etheopean famine victims. Between their musical performance and Freddie's mastery over the crowd they stole the show and that 20 minute set has been voted the best live rock performance.

This was released in 1975, hence the glam rock clothes, they are a British rock group. It was revolutionary then and still is, I remember hearing it for the first time on the radio and it just blew me away. The opening chorus is just Freddie multi tracking his voice 5 times for the harmony, the others Brian, Roger and John sing the rest of the harmonies with Freddie, it's a classic.

This wasn’t actually a live performance. The song was #1 on the charts, and the British show “Top of the Pops” wanted them to appear & do it live. They were going to be out of the country, so they went into their rehearsal studio and “made this little film” using some very simple camera techniques. Music videos did not yet exist. They then matched the film with the song track. It’s all explained on a wonderful YT video called “Inside the rhapsody”. Queen was the GOAT, & Freddie Mercury was/is the greatest frontman for any band, ever. Watch their live stuff.

Everyone below has basically already said what I have to say, but great reaction! I'd love to see Somebody to Love live in Montreal 1981 too, and also all of their 20-minute set at Live Aid 1985 (best rock performance in history!) There are so many other great live shows, but if you haven't heard the studio version (official videos) of "Fat Bottomed Girls" or "Another One Bites the Dust" I'd check those out too. The official video for "The Show Must Go On" (my favorite Queen song) also shows a lot of career highlights. It's not a "real" music video, though, as Freddie was too sick - it was recorded months away from his death in 1991, and he had to prop himself up on the recording studio table and take shots of vodka to get through it. The whole song is about continuing forward despite knowing he didn't have much time left, though the audience didn't know that at the time. He famously said "I'll f**cking do it, darling" when guitarist Brian May was concerned about his health - he could barely walk - and ability to sing such a hard song.

Thank you for the excellent reaction. Queen is made up of four people: Lead singer, piano, guitar - Freddie Mercury; Guitar, keyboard, piano, backup singer - Brian May; Bass - John Deacon; Drums, backup singer - Roger Taylor. May I suggest next you listen to Queen - Somebody To Love - HD Live - 1981 Montreal kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l6difLWgtaytnmQ.html - and then Queen - Another One Bites the Dust (Live at Wembley) - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nLmhlMV6tamzlZ8.html It was Michael Jackson who strongly recommended to Queen that they release Another One Bites the Dust as a single. They did and it was a huge hit. With the exception of Bohemian Rhapsody and a few others their live performances were IMO better than the studio versions. Enjoy!

When you get into the late 70's, and early 80's you'll start to recognize some of the songs. You'll just be saying "I didn't know that was by Queen!!!!" I see someone suggested Somebody to Love, live in Monreal '81 and it is fantastic. Anything they did live in that concert is outstanding. I can't believe you never heard Bohemian Rhapsody before! Queen is a British rock band formed in London in 1970. Their classic line-up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals) and John Deacon (bass). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock.

it still amazes me that some people in their 20' and up have no clue about queen! specially since etc, america uses their songs on so many sport events, like "we will rock you or"we are the champions.

Freddie Mercury, the singer, did a number of songs with MJ. All haven't been released. Story goes, Freddie went to MJ's recording studio and recorded, but never finished. As "Rumor" has it, Freddie called his manager Miami (Jim Beach), and told him to arrange to get him out of there because, it was one thing that MJ's Chimp, I forget his name, was there, but when the Llama was in the recording studio, Freddie couldn't take it. Tidbit: MJ convinced Queen to release "Another One Bites The Dust" as a single. Which they did and opened the doors to a "Queen Disco Album, 'Hot Space', which all but sealed their fate with American Fans. The Bass Player John and Freddie wanted to make the album. The Drummer Roger and Guitarist Brian were against the album and hated it. They lost US (Americans) for a while. I happened to like SOME of that album.

You should watch the movie, Bohemian Rhapsody...A treat for the ears. Bo Rap is three songs in one and Freddie meshed them together to make this masterpiece...He was a musical genius...John deacon is on bass...awesome bassist and so chilled out. he was studying electrical engineering. Roger Taylor is on drums...a freaking animal who was going to be a dentist and Dr Brian May is on guitar...arguably one of the best guitarists in the world. He is also an astrophysicist. He was just as incredible live...if not more so. if you haven't already, check out their set at Live Aid...Wembley doesn't have a roof but if it did, they would've blown it all the way off. As it's been said before, hardly anyone in the 70,000 strong crowd there that day was a Queen fan, (as they were the last to be booked and no one knew about it), yet by the time they left EVERYBODY was a Queen fan. So greatly missed Freddie.

Your face says it all. You're so right, Michael Jackson was so special and Freddie Mercury does have that beautiful aura too. It's such a shame we lost both of them. Just imagine what they could have done if they'd lived.

I have been watching the reaction to this video by your generation. It has been an experience. I am glad to see you guys are open to hear this music. I wasn't when they first came out. I was into Jazz and soul. As I got older I began broadening my horizons. You young folks are doing it early. That's good. Keep up with shit going on around you. Know your history. History will tell you a lot. Why? Because history repeats itself. Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar. Emigrated to England when he was around 12. I forget now. He and M.J were friends.

Freddie was born in Tanzania but his family made England their home and the rest is history. The rest of the band are born in England. Freddie was not just a musician he was an entertainer as seen from their live aid performance, which I urge you watch as you really see how they perform live and freddie really goes for it.

Yooo! Congratulations! ^.^You just filled the knowledge gap. This song means life. The middle part, where he tries to escape from the death is so intrigued. And my favorite part, how he sings and complain about: "So you think, you can love me and leave me to diiieeee..?!?" , is matching perfekt with the melody. To understand, you need to sing and hit this part/note by yourself. XD You feel me?

Freddie Mercury (Farrokh Bulsara) was Parsi (indian-persian), a son of immigrants, born in Zanzibar, and a naturalized UK citizen. He never had his teeth fixed, even if they made him very self-conscious, but he feared it would impact his voice... which, btw went from a low F2 to a soprano high F6 with a falsetto, with his F5 tenor being his strongest high note. While that is certainly not the widest range, his was very clear and unforced with a vibrato that few manage to get, and it sounded much wider than that of many other voice talents. Queen was a phenomenon that still holds up today after more than 40 years.

now that you´ve touched holy soil (pink floyd - led zeppelin - queen), do yourself a favor and listen at least to 2 queen sensations: 1) SOMEBODY TO LOVE LIVE IN MONTREAL 1981 2) if you got 20 minutes: QUEEN LIVE AT LIVE AID 1985 (full 20 minutes) is considered the greatest stage performance of all time (i see it the same way) ... it got about 90.000 people in the stadium and 1.2 billion viewers on tv (not million, BILLION ... it was the first worldwide broadcast of such an event). then you´ll be hooked and you´ll recognize that you actually knew dozens of queen hits from stadium, movies, commercials ... (we will rock you, we are the champions, don´t stop me now, and on and on and on ... )

Queen was probably the most educated rock band ever. Freddie Mercury - degree in Art & Graphic Design, Roger Taylor - Biology, John Deacon - Electronics & Brian May - Astrophysics (& recently completed his doctorate after a 30-year hiatus).

You've most likely heard bits of this in the movies Wayne's world or Suicide Squad. Maybe you've heard a lot of their songs, but didn't recognize it was Queen. They wrote tons of hits such as We will rock you, We are the champions, Don't stop me now, Another one bites the dust, Under pressure (duet with David Bowie), Somebody to love, Killer Queen, One Vision, Radio Gaga, Crazy little thing called love, etc. The best part of Queen is they don't have just one genre, they don't mean one thing: they still are limitless, timeless, cross genres and even now their music is a breath of air because of their pure genius talent. Also, in case your wondering, the band rarely if ever told people what their songs were about, they rather let the individuals interpret it for themselves. That being said, a popular interpretation of the "mama just killed a man" part of Bohemian Rhapsody is Freddie Mercury coming out as gay and that his old straight self is dead, thats just one of them. Whatever kinds of music you like, they will have done it. I recommend you check out seven seas of rye or Stone cold crazy, both live at the rainbow or either Dragon Attack or Somebody to love both live at Montreal etc. Your in for a crazy ride, enjoy!

Queen the band and Freddie Mercury lead singer performer Entertainer visionary they will live on forever Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991 got what's a band Queen in the early 70s and needless to say outstanding outstanding outstanding singer performer theatrical singer. And yes him and Michael Jackson were friends. They were going to make a few tracks together which they did but Michael Jackson thought he was a little too hard and The Rock and didn't care for it so it never got on vinyl. Freddie Mercury is an idol and will live on as that you will hear his music to this day 28 years after he passed away and the band Queen is still performing two of the original band members to this day only their lead singer is Adam Lambert. Long Live Queen and I love you Freddie Mercury forever can't say enough good things about him

Seeing all those scify toys on your desk there I ALREADY LIKE IT !😜🤗 Where do you think Michael got the idea for the silver glove from ????Freddie did it first.... All of the greatest artists steal. They combine, add, subtract, change it up, make it their own. Michael also borrowed moves from the late great Bob Fosse. Check out the movie All that Jazz and you will see how Michael borrowed moves added to them and made them his own. I love MJ as well ! You can’t love music without loving Michael !
