Why? I have a Cobalt SS Supercharger (Just bought it) and would never consider a Cavalier. Nostalgia it is not, just a bad car that rust easy, not a problem in Commie California, right Comrades?

Kind of a PITA in some ways to do it... but I used to deal with struts/springs in this manner- put the car up on stand(s), and support/raise the LCA with a jack. Then bust the nut on the strut shaft, remove the upper strut mount fasteners, then slowly lower the LCA. Installation is reverse of removal. The PITA part can be getting the strut bearing in the right spot when re-assembling. And those look like aeroforce interceptor gauges in the a pillar- I had an earlier single gauge in my GTP. All they should need is an OBDII connection and a switched power wire.

It helps if you remove the ball joint bolt! The ball joint has a indent in which the ball joint bolt slides threw! The ball joint would have separated if, You would have removed the ball joint bolt 1st... You got lucky with the rear control arm bolt NOT BEING SEIZED! THAT IS ALWAYS FUN! Spent 3 days with a saw-zall & about 30-50 blades!!!! Finished up with 1 hour to be at work!!! Every time that I end up in one of these tough, automotive jobs, I swear to myself that I am purchasing a oxyacetylene torch! Just need more hours at work to be able to afford one!!!

I always heard the Cobalt SS decently quick but I never really believed it. This thing looks to be quick for a 4 cylinder
@brian5o
@brian5o 4 жыл бұрын
DB MD times they have changed and 4-cylinders are definitely not what they used to be. Back in 1993, I owned a 1988 Mustang LX 5.0. It was rated a 225 hp. It was amazingly quick and cars were lighter back then. I now own a Lincoln MKZ with a 2.0L turbo 4. I believe it has in the neighborhood of 275 or 280 hp. 4 cylinders today make as much power as Ferraris did back in the 80s. We are really in a great time for performance when it comes to cars.

I have owned both a Corsica and a Century. They are not the same, sorry, they aint. I had an 89 Century Wagon with the 3.3 When I bouth it, it had about 60ish thousand miles on it and when I sold it, it had over 280,000 miles on it and I never did any major work to the engine or transmission. The biggest thing I did to the engine was a water pump. Most reliable car I have ever owned. Love the videos Randy, thanks for doing what you do man.

I’ve got a big history with the old Corsica’s. My dad used to own one. He ran the hell out of that sucker until I believe around 08-09. I’m pretty sure it had over 200,000 miles on it. I can’t remember the year on it, but let’s just say it had that 90’s interior.

😃 Oh the Corsica that brings back memories... My mother a rare 89 hatchback model. I loved that hatchback, it had so much extra room. She was planning on getting another car, and so was looking around at dealerships, I had the perfect car picked out for her... My school had just leased, for a driver's ed car!!! 😮 A supercharged 1996 Impala SS in a beautiful rose color with cream interior, she absolutely would have loved it, and it would have still held its value today. All she had to do was just wait until the end of the year for the schools lease to be over, and the dealership then would have given her a heck of a deal on the car then. I could have had the Corsica then for my first car. 😧 Instead she went to another dealership in the meantime looking around, and they told her the Corsica had a blown head gasket "I call BS" and they convinced her into buying a run-of-the-mill 96 Pontiac Grand Am, and giving her a next to nothing on a trade in on the Corsica... 😭 why Mom??? RIP

I would not mind it though. I know Cobalts are not the most liked cars compared to camaros and mustangs but they are not too bad from what i could see when i was a rental car agent.

I remember my mom trading in a 47 Plymouth on a new 55 Chevy it was traded on a 63 Chevy 2 that I got (this is my car era), and Mom bought a new 70 GTO. so I parked my 55 Studebaker that no one would run against and pulled the 194ci 6 out of the little 63 Chevy and dropped in a warmed over 292 GMC 6, with the correct paint and air cleaner no one noticed the Holley 4 barrel carb, after market manifold and taller engine but lots went home counting their spark plugs. The 38 Chev I bought in 1965 was fun to drive but nothing was more satisfying than blowing the doors off the Camaros and Mustangs with a 6 cylinder 4 door family car... In the 60s I would buy 3 cars a week or more, swap all the good parts into the best body and sell it, people with good jobs made about 8k a year I was making 10 to 15k while in High school Then the local Government noticed me and put me out of business, no mechanics licence, can't work on cars no dealers licence, can't sell cars. Wrote the test got my mechanics licence, Registered a small business and got a dealers licence then they ruled and regulated me completely out of business. Six months earlier I had a run in with the mayors son and had to take him to court to get paid for the car he bought then all this shit happened. Power corrupts. Finished school, got my Civil engineering degree, Went to visit the mayor and his son in jail for embezzling money from the city, laughed at them then continued on with my life. Some where in all that mess I spent 5 years in the military now I'm stuck being called LT for the rest of my life and life looks a lot different after 70, never thought I would make it past 50, raced and crashed anything fast, cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles was shot at by people I don't know, killed a few. Life has its ups and downs for the most part it has been good. Now I'm trapped in my own home because there is a 0.003% chance of me dying from this stupid Chinese virus, according to the latest statistics from the only people I believe >DOCTORS< I have had worst odds than that my whole life. Just more BS so the rich can buy control at fire sale prices. Like I said Power corrupts. Sorry about the rant it's 5 am here and I can't sleep. I subscribed because I like what you do, makes me feel young again and that's good when you have only a few years remaining Thanks

Probably the best thing to use to get the rest of that half shaft out of the trans would be a slide hammer with the adaptor to remove a stuck half shaft. If you look on ebay at slide hammers, They have a umpteen piece kit that includes a piece that wedges in behind a axle shaft.

34:29 Did you miss 2nd, Randy or is your 2nd gear synchro gone? If it is the synchro, double-clutch it, it'll take care of that. Push in the clutch, 1st->Neutral, let it out, push it back in, Neutral->2nd. My old 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 SSP had a bad 2nd gear synchro and that not only took care of it but after some practice, you can really get quick at it.
