We all know that Ken is the product of a Capcom board meeting, where someone started the meeting off by saying, in a super plain intonation, “So, who’s the best character gonna be on launch?” Like come on, this guy has fire effects and they still pulled up? Ryu gets his signature lightning on exactly 2 moves, while Ken is out here doing a flame dance like it’s a music festival. Ken was an inside job.

Ken Is incredible. His ability to dominate in the corner is ridiculous and he has the ability to do a half screen corner carry with flaming tatsu just creates insane setups and game plan

It's because everyone knows deep down Ken is slightly broken, and they all want to take advantage of it. I say nerf his damage output, considering the amount of tools he has at his disposal.

Ken auto-loses to JP and Guile. Deejay and Luke do the exact same thing Ken does but better in every way. Ken has no answer to Blanka or Honda except perfect parry and uppercuts on reaction. Ken isn't even top 5 lol.

I'm a Ken main, Currently Master Rank.. Imho I think unless you are AngryBird, Ryu wins the matchup slightly..

Yeah that's been my feeling as well. Ryu seems to actually counter Ken by a not insignificant amount. As a Diamond Ryu player I almost never lose to Ken and even beat a decently ranked Master Ken player 4-2. I think Ryu's better fireball forces Ken to play more "Honest" and then Ryu just hits like a truck in comparison.

@@seph13xso true. Ryu’s neutral range also feels far superior as far as options go. Ken has decent jabs but because of that, he’s predicable and easily punishable when you pick up on that. Because this game doesn’t often reward rush down, Ken can easily lose advantage when getting too close to Ryu - which is opposite to what one would think, but then comes as a surprising loss to most Ken players. And if for some reason the Ryu decides to poke and back away often, that’s a long, painful, and inevitable loss for Ken. Thankfully I’ve only run into a few Ryu’s that abuse that though

@@psp785 hell no. Have you seen kakuru v angry bird?JP is the ultimate Zoner but up close can put hands on you also , well a cane. Then push you back out. And get in free if he wants as a mixup. You have to have ultimate defense, and drop nothing to win. Stream roll is a bit excessive.

I LOVE this game, but its ridiculous how many Ken's I face in ranked. Its like 80% Kens. I don't think its all because he's meta, I honestly think there just isn't enough "cool" looking characters in SF6. Like it or not most people pick a main based on this alone. Lily for instance, like is anyone thinking she looks cool? Manon? Its one thing MK has in spades over Street Fighter. Once Akuma is out everyone will be on him, even if he sucks.

Sure, I agree about Lily and Manon not looking cool. But Ryu and Guile have never looked cooler. Basically all the returning SFII are improved in the looks department or have the ability to go classic look. It's not like Ken is the S class cool looking character and everyone else is a D or F. Maybe he's a first pick for looks, but it's the meta that keeps them playing him. Most people won't keep playing a character they keep losing with.

@@shintenkai1648 at this point I’m all for the nerfs. It’s gonna be the same sf5 story nerf him into the ground and still get. Ex dp’d for mashing , whiff punish with standing heavy. His damage isn’t the highest and it’s capped at 62 percent with full meter and OD unlike other characters who get 70

Random but watching Ken really irks me, the way he runs and does this little slide and looks like the feet should connect, and then still at frame advantage to hit you with a punch. Something about it just looks off.

Another point, you PC players *really* need to learn how to skip win animations. The PS guys have figured it out but it's like every PC player just love doing nothing for 6 seconds. Probably fondling themselves to get over the loss.😂
