Spend a rainy autumnal day in the middle of July with me.
Starting from a single hot day in July foraging for herbs and tea leaves, ending at a beautiful English estate. I've spent a slow and moody day visiting a gothic revival house and beautiful gardens while it was pouring rain.
I collected fireweeds which i will be using to make tea, and wild oregano which I'll use as a spice for autumn soups. Have you ever foraged for herbs before?

To create a beautiful video, it is not enough to live in a beautiful place, for this you need a real talent to notice wonderful moments in small things. You do it so wonderfully! Sometimes in summer it is the rain that gives us strength and new inspiration.

So many people mentioned to me that it increasingly feels more like autumn - and I agree! These days were so rainy and cold (with an exception of that one hot day I included in the beginning), it feels more like October. Does it feel like autumn where you are?

Autumn is my favorite season. I think I love the idea of summer more than the reality of it. I live for those summer days with temperatures in the mid 70's, with refreshing breezes blowing fluffy white clouds throughout a bright blue sky way. I love to watch the flowers and vegetables my husband and plant in spring grow and make our yard a beautiful haven. But here, in Northern NJ, just 1.5 miles from the NY state border, it can get hot, humid and unbearably buggy. Just one heat wave, and I'm ready for cozy blankets and a fire in our wood stove. But I'm 53 and still stunned by how fast time goes by so no matter what the weather or whatever the temperature may be, I try to live in the moment and not wish the time away. Just take each season as it comes. Thank you for sharing another one of your beautiful videos.

Aah I feel like we might have a similar climate then! Summertime is lovely as an idea indeed. It seems like summer is the time to live - or at least that's the idea that we all somehow collectively have. But really life is in every moment, in every season, isn't it!

Oops! Yes, the seasons and the years seem to speed up with each year. Makes us treasure our time more. Here in Australia I love Autumn the most too. I'm almost 72 and have about 1/3 acre of very steep food forest garden. Maybe I should call it a jungle right now! We're in Summer with fruits on the trees and vines but Autumn hopefully means harvest. And the colours!! All the very best wishes to there in NJ.

Aah thank you so much! It feels so lovely to just close the umbrella and let the rain fall on your skin, doesn't it... I do it all the time when times are warmer, but also recently with our unusually cold weather I found myself soaking under the rain more often than ever, willingly or not! 😄

It hasn't rained.. it is 108 today last I checked... I am longing for cooler months . This is like a balm for my soul. I'm parched.. thank you.

Ooh does it rain in the autumn/ winter months? Heat can be pretty daunting! We had a very dry summer (for England that is) last year where it hasn't rained from June to September and it was a catastrophe! This year is very different and I'm grateful for the rain. @@IamDaria we get a monsoon rain typically beginning in late June.. July but so far only teasers .. or a bit of lightning and thunder a few drops . We desperately need rain. It will rain in colder months .. we don't get much.. I think a good year is 3 inches.. maybe... So I love these misty gloomy rainy videos. ☁️🌧️

Hi Daria, loved watching this episode… you really could feel the change of weather/seasons and the switching in mood. We are getting to see things through your eyes and it’s wonderful! I was wondering if you would some day be able to share all the beautiful places you have visited in England I.e. the gardens and historical buildings. Something like a guidebook but nothing too extensive. That would be amazing ☺️ P.S This might sound a bit silly but did you just leave the leaves to dry on the counter top? And how did you store them? Thank you once again x

Oh what a wonderful idea! I would love to make a guide like this - England is so full of beautiful places. 🥰 I have a warm boiler room in the house, so I just put the herbs to dry there and in just a couple of hours they were done! But I also do it in the oven on the lowest temperature or in the sun when it's out!

Love this new format. The quotes are really interesting, informative and I love those little smileys you've added regarding the umbrella situations 😂. This Summer does feel a bit odd especially in comparison to the previous one where there were too many days that were absolutely sweltering. I don't mind it though, any weather is nice, just have to surround yourself with the things that make it feel even nicer :)

Thank you so much! 🥰 We had quite the opposite, it was pretty hot in June, but then July came with lots of rain - which is quite unusual! But it was sunny only one day in July (which I somehow ended up capturing, but it was sooo hot and tiresome!).

it's strange to think now that when I was little I was indifferent to the seasons. Now with each year I appreciate each one more, they all have their own glamour.
