My Scottish blood stirs to the sound of the pipes and drums ❤

When you heard those pipes coming over the hill it was time to run

Many an enemy fled the battlefield at the sound of the pipes approaching.

There's a channel, McJibbin? Which shows part of our late Queen's funeral procession which features the bagpipes. It is very emotional but at the same time beautiful. The Uk's last physical tribute to a wonderful woman.

The bagpipes were used by the Highland clans when they wanted to communicate over long distances in mountainous terrains with different tunes calling out a wedding or a funeral or a gathering of the clans or a call for war etc and was very effective

Aren't they just amazing. And when war comes they put down their instruments and pick up their weapons. Bagpipes always feature in the Monarch's funeral procession, and some other royal funerals. Nobody does it like Great Britain. Also, I've seen on YT that there is an Irish bagpipe band in Mexico (I think) that celebrates some military action there many years ago?

There's a cracking 3 part documentary series on Sky Arts just now 'Battle of the Pipebands' Shows you the top 3 pipe bands in th UK just now along with the Military pipebands. Gives you a lot of information regarding the practicing etc. Takes you to a Pipebag maker in Kilmarnock. Really interesting. Also the military speak about the pipers leading the soldiers into battle during WW1

Hey guys. The bands involved in the Edinburgh Tattoo are from all over the world, shown here were bands from Africa, Ireland, Canada, America, India, the UK and, of course Scotland. It shows how the Scots have been a nation of brave, fighting, travelling men, that spread our traditions across the world. It stirs a pride that I can't describe. One love from Scotland. 💙

It is not obvious on TV but there is a very significant slope on the parade ground!!

It was correct in much of it , though dont know all the facts .

Although 'Braveheart' is a good action film, it is not historically correct.

England has never banned the bag pipes we have them in our parades and the Scottish military is English they are under the king
