Thank you for your reaction to this song. 「白日」 is a Japanese word that usually means the sun or daytime, but can also mean innocence, which is what this song is about. This song is the theme song of a Japanese drama about false accusations and was a big hit in 2019. As a result, the lyrics are also heavy. The band has been described as having a "Tokyo New Mixture Style", as each member has been influenced by music from multiple directions and has created new music from it. The band is notable for its unusual background, with two of its members having studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts (Japan's premier school of music and the arts - an elite institution, if I will). That's why the band's music is a mix of rock, R&B, jazz and J-Pop genres, with an emphasis on song-like melodies and Japanese lyrics, giving each song a completely different feel that keeps us coming back for more. You aren’t wrong that 白日 is pronounced “bái rì”, but thats the wrong language. This is the mandarin chinese pronounciation, but since the song and band are japanese, its pronounced “hakujitsu”. Same exact writing, pronounciation, very similar meaning. A very common example of how closely chinese is with japanese and korean on the language tree (although korean dropped the chinese writing system completely while japanese still uses it).
