As a truck driver, I listened to JRE for years. He mentions Kill Tony often so I turned it on finally, not understanding what it was, and this was the episode I chose. I was so confused about the premise and such, but when you came on (again, listening, not watching) I was at first still not into it but as I listened to the interview, I heard the real you come out. And the genuine laughter and respect you drudged up as you talked, I thought that maybe this podcast is really something, and I never forgot how you were the man that turned it around for me and you! Congrats on your set, I hope you killed when you did the secret show again, and congrats and good luck on your sobriety!

Joe isn’t lying. When he pointed out to him “That’s your best stuff right there. Just do that.” His energy came up and everybody started really paying attention, it snapped me out of the thoughts that this guy was bombing bad, and then it just kept getting funnier and funnier. It’s like Joe was his guru reached within him and pulled his inner comedian out, and he was killing it from then onward. And to think he got sober and more focused on comedy. Dude has a pretty interesting feel good story brewing!

I watched this a few times in a row, gets funnier every time. The nuance in your gestures and emotion looks like it comes from deep down - looked like you were in the "flow state". I don't know how much of the adlib was pre-cooked but it doesn't matter - it was very funny, but also hits deep which makes great comedy.

I read the title but was still surprised by how funny some of those later jokes were, legitimately killed it.

It's funny that they thought you "bombed" your first minute, but it was a premise and setup, and your interview was the PUNCH. Like most of your best stuff, you disguise the bit until the punchlines come, seemingly out of nowhere. Before you know it, you've been hit with multiple shots. And, like all fighters say, the punches that knock you out are the ones you don't see.
