You may never see this Ian but you , your voice and lyrics literally saved my life ! I listened to "in loving memory of " end to end probably a 1000 times, somehow your words spoke to me in a way I can't explain, as funny as it may seem I just knew I was not alone even when had no one in my life . I just want to say thank you ! And although we may never meet in person , I want you to know you were and are still very important to me !

I feel ya man, been there and I used to feel that pain and forever alone in the universe feeling, but tomorrow is always a new day my brother! Just know you are not and by far the only one that feels this way. Stay strong and whatever will be will be my friend go with the flow and float to safety or struggle against the tides and drown from panic and exhaustion. Life changes from minute to minute my brother, so... You'd better stick around or you'll never know 🙏❤️

Thats an amazing story John W! This is a very deep song to me as well! Always know that you are never alone....we are all connected and flying through space together, even after this short life here, our energy will travel beyond still somehow strangely connected. .

Why does this only have 414 likes? This song is so brilliant and Ian Thornley is an incredible talent! Song writing, vocals and guitar, all just massively talented. I guess we will have to keep him for ourselves in Canada, but i feel bad for the rest of the world!

I was sort of cut off from the world in 1998 when I first heard this song. I had made a cassette recording of it without any clue who it was. After an exhaustive search, I found Big Wreck. Thanks to uploads like this I'm still enjoying this music. Thanks so much!!

I heard the original for the first time after I graduated high school. Now that I am 37 and has seen my share of shit, this new version is more powerful to me. I have been a fan of everything Ian has done and always will.

Still a fan of the original, but this is amazing. One of the greatest bands ever. I had the pleasure to see you and the boys at "The Outback" Sault College in Sault Ste Marie about 15 years ago with Joy Drop, and I'll never forget it. You started your first set and were rockin out, second song in, power cuts out on you guys, and my drunk ass yells out "Now that's some power right there". You laughed and handed my girlfriend a half smoked cigarette. One of the best shows I've seen. And you have been an inspiration of mine for years! I love your music. Please come back to the Soo.

Thank you, Lee Anderton. Without that interview, I would never have known about what is now my favourite band. Ian's voice is truly something to behold, and this song takes it to another level, I think. Thanks, Ian. :)

The original Big Wreck version struck me deep emotionally; a dark time in my life going through divorce and other personal tribulations. Then Ian does it again. This song stirs so many memories, some maybe not even close to what ever the song meaning really is about. Such a ghostly atmosphere set in just lyric alone; then of course this video. The song remains one of my all-time favorite tunes. Thank you Ian for your talented brilliance! - Signed: A true fan.

Great sadness in Ian Thornley's eyes at the end there. I'd hazard a guess this beautiful and poignant music video coincided with his own situation round about that time. Loss is great thing forever remembered. Perhaps the ending is the loss. Or the loss happens before the ending. I lost once but in a twist of irony having walked away she came back forever. I hope you find your peace if you haven't already.

The car was probably the first memory of him loving her and order to move on he had to destroy place in his mind where he just could never leave. This remake is so tragically beautiful just like the video. Well done Ian...Well done!

The context of the music and lyrics in this song was meant to mature into this remake. Very clever and insightful to sing about memories you thought were in the past but revisited due to circumstance where unresolved feelings resurface. What a better way to that than to create an alternate arrangement to a song about that very thing you wrote two decades ago. Bravo. I get goosebumps every time I hear this rendition.

As much as I appreciate Big Wreck / Ian Thornley, this version, although stand-alone fantastic had it been released before the original, just doesn't stack up to the heart and energy of the "In Loving Memory" version.
