Lyrics:
I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
I don’t think I’m gonna do it
But I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
17 year old me probably wouldn’t believe
That I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
After all of the hours that I spent getting good
I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
I used to love this, now I love this less
And I’ve been scared to get this off my chest
Afraid of who I might let down if I decide to put to rest
The life I’m living
But I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
It comes in waves, but the waves come stronger and more often
I’ve been reading about how burning out is not uncommon
But I never thought it’d happen to me
So young and full of so much promise
But if I’m honest
I used to love this, now I love this less
And I’ve had trouble filling up my chest
With the air I need to live because I’m anxious and I’m stressed
Beyond my limits
So I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
And I tell myself I’m a loser
Who can’t take when things get hard
I’m my own worst abuser
But I guess most people are
And I’ve already come this far
It’d be a waste to not just finish
But I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting
I don’t think I’m gonna do it
But I used to love this, now I love this less
I don’t know what I would do instead
So I’ll probably just convince myself that sticking with it’s best
And try forgetting
That I’ve been thinking ‘bout quitting

My dude this is great but take the breaks you need. No one, especially internet wackos, should force you to turn a good thing into a bad thing because of those strangers' wants. Your needs come first. You should always come first. Take care.

I don't think it's 100% autobiographical, it's probably mainly content and generic situations people can related to in different levels.
@TommytheroxTV
@TommytheroxTV Жыл бұрын
@@1985gvs agreed, many times songs artists write can be about the experiences others or friends close to them have told them about. Art is not always self absorbed, sometimes it’s charitable, a canvas for others to project onto rather than a reflection of the artist.

I got something completely different from this song. I thought this song was about suicide
@lindsay4647

Definitely valid points. Regardless of who it's about, breaks are important anyway. You should always look out for yourself first and foremost, you can't help others if you don't help yourself. Dead men can't give hugs.
@678Draco

@@FailurePrime i can see how you got that from some parts but I think it's about burnout for phrases like "I used to love this, now I love this less" "After all of the hours I spent getting good I've been thinking about quitting" Still pretty interesting how songs can be interpreted!

To me, this song resonates so unbelievably hard. I've been dealing with violently suicidal ideations since I was 12 years old, and yeah sure, life is a rollercoaster and it has its ups and downs. Right now mine has been in a down-swing for about half a year or more due to a string of truly awful experiences, and the future doesn't show any signs of improvement. I haven't seen or heard anything about either of my 2 sons in months. My mental illnesses keep from being able to hold a job for longer than a month or so and when I'm sober I sleep for 18+ hours a day. After trying to take "the long nap" over 20 times in my 27 years of life, I gave up on it.. because while leaving this world behind could possibly make me not have to endure the pain, it would cause pain to all the people I love, and that's literally the last thing I want.. So currently I'm a rock sitting in the middle of the river of life, slowly eroding while everything passes by.. I'm truly beyond suicidal at this point and have chosen to simply exist and try to enjoy what life I have left when I can, however difficult it may be to find joy. This song makes me tear up with a strange melancholy nostalgia because the lyrics take me back to a time when I used to think about quitting life. Anyways, love yourself and cherish every moment. The only thing guaranteed in this life, is that it will end. Every single thing that lives.. will die.. so enjoy the fleeting time that we get to experience this life and do what makes you happy and try your best to help others experience happiness as often as possible.... And please, don't quit... Sincerely, Another Ian who cares~

Hey. From one Ian to another, and from someone that loved music and never took that path, I want you to know you’re music is sincerely amazing. I don’t go to KZfaq often from seeing snippets of videos, but your melodic artistry is on point. This song about quitting resonated with me deeply, and it made me cry. Don’t give up! I've been going through it recently, and your music helps me. Music is a great way to feel like you aren't alone. When you lose some motivation to do what you love to do, it hurts, you feel like you're gonna lose a part of yourself if you put it down. Especially after putting in so much effort. But it's not a waste, and just cuz you put it down, doesn't mean that you can't pick it back up later :) much love yall. Stay strong out there

This song resembles exactly how I felt when I got through my 5/6th year of band. It got to the point where I was so self destructive and upset with what I was doing that I would make up any reason not to go to class or practice. I was so scared to quit because so many people said how happy they were by me being in band. Luckily, I realized that it’s my life too. Please do remember that!! Don’t feel pressured to do something you personally can’t do anymore. You are loved by so many but the main person you need love from is yourself ❤

Listen this through once thinking it's about burnout and second guessing your career choices - and it's pretty good and works that way. ... ... ... THEN, after you done that, go back and listen again. Only this time think that maybe it's about suicide. Then it really hurts ya to listen to it. Especially if maybe you've had some of those thoughts yourself.
