Not buying it J PL. Robby Savage isn´t World Class. Has never been and his punditry sucks. Stopping players on a one-off doesn´t elevate you to World-Class. You have to be putting that kind of performance consistently to be consider World Class. Robby Savage was average. Hard working, no-nonsense kinda guy, but average. He is desperately trying to fit in with the likes of Owen, Wrighty and McManaman. If he thinks he is World Class, he is out of touch with reality.

I kind of agree with what he's saying. He's saying he wasn't a 'world class' player as he lacked the ability to consistently produce world class performances at the highest level. BUT he is saying that there were days where he could produce a 'world class' level performance against a high level opponent where he might have looked like one of the best DMFs in the world. Which is sort of true for most players as anyone can have a day or two where they're completely unplayable. But you have to do it consistently to be considered a 'world class' player over the length of your career.

Three pundits who were attacking players WOULD come out with a response like that, but I think Robbie Savage has a point. Lots of players can be world class for one or two games in their career (being world class consistently is the key) and you can also have world class defenders and defensive midfielders. These players don’t ‘just stop’ people, there is an art and a skill to being good at that.

"On that day, I would say I was world class because I marked Gianfranco Zola out of the game. So, on that performance I was world class. But that was one performance in three hundred. So, I'm *not* world class, am I." He clearly says he's not world class. But I am aware this is the post fact era. He was making a point that in order to define someone as world class, they have to be consistent.

You don't have world class performances " once in a while " ffs. If you're a world class player then you play to a very high standard ...consistently. Savage was only consistent at being a useless clogger!
@Km-kq9sz
@Km-kq9sz 7 жыл бұрын
Clive Bindley world class only means great performances. He said basically he had great performances once in a while but wasn't consistent to be considered a great player. It's simple to understand he didn't say he was a great player and yes an average player can have a great game every 100 games.
@CB-xr1eg
@CB-xr1eg 7 жыл бұрын
No he didn't say he was a great player he said " world class " Just because you stop a player who may be having an " off day " and not performing to his usual standard, does not make you world class, not for one game nor by any stretch of the imagination.
@Km-kq9sz
@Km-kq9sz 7 жыл бұрын
Clive Bindley you're only close minded about it because of the word. He basically means he had a man of the match performance nothing more nothing less. You and those legends in the video just stopped thinking because he used the term "world class".He never said he's world class he means he had a motm performance that's it. He even said he had one good game in 300

Weren't Ian Wright's goals purely tap ins? I remember Henry appeared to play with the deficit of only scoring wonder goals. Wright's main deficit was playing non-league until about 26 - which is not a real deficit.

Eight years ago, I was playing for the Roscommon Town Under-11s in the Roscommon District Youth Football League, playing a game against the other team from town. We were already 2-1 up when their keeper took a goal kick. I was stood on the halfway line, took it down, and sent it straight back to him. Looped over his head and just in under the crossbar. Only goal I scored that year, but you know something? I was world class that day, better than Messi in his prime.
