My mate and me got out wknd before last, had lots of bites, but missed them - due to talking too much, catching up, and planning next yrs trip to the IOM! We did catch something though - A crab each..... Great vlog as always, thankyou!

@@ianclarkfishing Hi Ian , yes used to be hard work, I used to fish all over the Bristol channel mainly specimen hunting Used to fish a fair bit with Rod Carter and I used to live near John lintern in Axbridge. Moved to the Isle of Man to live 15 years ago , tope fishing is outstanding up here . These days I like the fact that I can walk to a good deep water rock mark for a few hours fishing. Hi Liam glad you are enjoying the videos! Multiplier reels can be tricky at first but once you get the hang of them you won’t regret it. The new Penn reels are lovely and easy to use I would suggest talking to your local tackle shop rather than buy online. I haven’t done any videos about them as my posts are less instructional and more just showing the enjoyment of a days fishing. I’m sure a look at KZfaq will show plenty of videos on the topic. Fantastic Dover Sole and very expensive fish to buy. Can you tell my why you both keep the rods at a low angle to the beach? I can see it would be good for slack line indicating but not sure for gentle Sole bites.
@ianclarkfishing4 жыл бұрын
I suppose mostly to stop neck ache!!😂 plus generally we are fishing fairly long range as tide comes in quickly and we letting line out....therefore small sole type bites difficult to see regardless of conditions...we are looking for slack line, a big pull down or a drift downtide to the right. On Chesil or steep beach we fish high rods to keep line out of the breaking waves but doesn’t work on brean.

@@ianclarkfishing Interested by the idea of pulley pennels with size 4s on. I tend to use hooks like that single on multi-hook paternosters and save the pulley pennels for the big chunky stuff. Might give it a go. Cheers.

@adrianiles60194 жыл бұрын
Great video again lan & Chris, just goes to show there's good fishig along the channel at Brean do you find the higher tides are more productive ?
@ianclarkfishing4 жыл бұрын
Hi Adrian yes there is great fishing locally when you hit it right! Chris went next evening and blanked!!?? We prefer tides between 10.5 and 11.5m ideally ...the big tides are ok providing not a big lateral wind...then it gets tricky!! Would fish over 12m rather than under 10m cheers Ian
@adrianiles60194 жыл бұрын
Ian Clark thanks for replying Ian ,I’ve learned lots of valuable tips watching your videos especially as lm new to beach fishing , lve bought a couple of old multipliers and lm learning to cast them (Swedish Abu Ambassador 7000’s)l see your reels don’t have line guides, should l take them off to get a better cast ?
@ianclarkfishing4 жыл бұрын
You probably saw one of the reels I use on Brean is an ABU 7000. They are useful on Brean because of large line capacity if you want to fish at long range but they can be a bit prone to overruns. I use Penn Mag 525 reels on Chesil for distance and they rarely birds nest. None have level winds as have found that if sand gets in mechanism they will jam. You just guide line back on evenly with your thumb. Cheers Ian

Hi thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Hi Bob lovely to hear from you! Berrow fishing well for bass and sole at the moment. Currently I’m in hospital but Chris went Friday evening had two 3lb bass and a 1.5lb sole on lug. As long as wind not too strong along the beach we use leads with no grips so in current weather I think your watch leads will be fine. A little bit of movement is a good thing if it does drift. Good luck tight lines cheers ian

Hi Helen thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I use 14lb as we casting onto sand/mud.. Chris prefers 20lb but it’s not really necessary.
