Welcome, I'm Ian! Here on this channel we read books; we talk about books; we shop for books; we obsess over books! Whatever book-relayed itch you have, we have it here! In this video I attempt to read 200 pages a day for one week. I tackle on of my most anticipated reads of the summer. Stick around to see if I make it! Thank you for stopping by!

@@straya520 oh it can be decieving if you switch from fiction to non-fiction! Fiction generally reads a lot faster and its easier to just skip a few sentences in the mids of boring bits 😅. With non-fiction its better to take your time and read everything carefully. I prefer to read 3 books at the same time. A slow classic/non fiction, a fast and fun book and my book club book. That works for me. I think its very courageous of you to make that switch and every page you read will be worth it!

@@sascha7476 thank you! I'm doing a deep read of mediations by Marcus Aurelius and it's by no means a quick read haha. Taking notes, highlighting, tabbing pages. But I feel as though I'm getting so much out of it! I miss fiction but we transition in what we enjoy, I know I'll go back eventually!!

When I got to THAT part, I felt like it was necessary at that moment to save themselves, because I’m pretty sure there was a passage there that said that people refer to having sex as ‘it’ and even then it has power and people fear to tell the word. So by doing ‘it’, not only are they telling f*** you to IT, but they are also passing the threshold from kids to adults, so IT won’t have a hold on them because they are not kids anymore, they are tainted by what makes adults adults, and as much as it’s unhinged, it’s brilliant.

I’ve thought about reading this a time or two, but I am really put off by “those” scenes that you and others have talked about. Think I’ll probably sit that one out. I haven’t read much King, but enjoyed Pet Semetary and 11/22/63. I tried Gunslinger, but couldn’t get into it. Not sure if King is for me on the whole, but there are aspects of his writing that are just amazing.
@iangubeli

Totally get that! Some girls he hopes on tangents that are long-winded and dry; other times he writes the most inappropriate scenes that boarder on criminal. All around, he is a very good writer! The Gunslinger is a bit spacey. Of the Dark Tower series, it really is the weakest one. The rest of that series is INCREDIBLE!!!

Hi Ian, for a video idea you could do trying out books in a certain genre. I suggest this cause to be honest, since you've picked up Larry Mcmurtry Dead Man's Walk. I would love to see you read some westerns and see if you like them, if you're interested of course. If you are, for starters I'd recommend Zane Greys Riders Of The Purple Sage, Louis L'amours Hondo, True Grit by Charles Portis, Jack Schaefers Shane and pretty much any Western by Max Brand or even any by L'amour. Obviously this would require some book shopping so that's up to you of course if you are interested and willing to spend the money to give it a try. Im Always trying to get people to read the western genre haha. Happy reading.

IAN. MR GUBELI. IAN GUBELI. LOL! WHAT.A.VIDEO! What a video! You never fail to amaze me. I’ve been anticipating this video and we’ve been speaking so much about it, that watching it for the length that it is has made my day, and it’s only 10.55 in the morning here lol. The way you spoke about the book; story, characters, events and gave absolutely NOTHING away (even though we’ve both seen both versions of the films, so know the just of everything), when you said that the book is so much better and the films don’t even represent what happens in it, just blew my mind away. I only read the first part last night, so can’t wait to read more. But, that aside, I have to commend you, because living life, working full-time, working again on KZfaq and having family time and still reading…PHENOMENAL! You totally should read The stand, Carrie and Pet Cemetary aswell. They are all really good in my opinion. And If you like Stephen King you most certaintly would love Robert McCammon. Boy's life by McCammon is similar to IT, but without those scenes you hated :P McCammon is just as good as King with his character works, and at writing children!! Swan song by McCammon is similar to The stand. The post apocalypic aspect atleast. Plus McCammon is very good at his endings! Btw. I've noticed that you've finished reading ACOTAR. You should def continue with The crescent city. There's a few surprices left in there for you :)

McCammon has been on the radar for sometime! I didn’t know “Boy’s Life” ran in the same vein as “IT.” That’s exciting. I am wanting to get into King’s other classics like the ones you mentioned. It is a very thick book, not gonna lie😂 really freaking big! In comparison to the movie, they have maybe 55-65% in common. There are some liberties taken in the movie that take away from what the book was trying to do. The book is 1,000% better than any adaptation ever done for it! There is so much that isn’t touched on in the movies, and probably couldn’t be touched on, because of how hard it would be to capture it properly. The book is SO good!!!!

Love this book!! I'm still at a 5 star I think. It's been a long time. I have been taking stars off for animal killings and other things that trigger me so I probably would in this one in a reread. There's no point in a lot of things in books. I do love King's older books but not as many of his newer books. I also love horrror books and read a good bit. I read all the books!! I do skip a lot of things in books, I just can't. I don't do rape scenes etc. I don't love grimdark so as much depending as well. I don't like animal torture, graphic women rapes or anything. It's pointless. A lot of my grimdark I've gotten rid of because of this, even books where I love the characters, I just can't. I've traded in all of my Game of Thrones and many more. I don't need really graphic horrible stuff anymore in life. It's too triggering. Gah, there's so much I could say but I'd write my own book on your page. Lol. I have kep my 3 Game of Thrones illustrated books for joe. I'm thinking about what to do. Thanks for the video 😊
