Ok but how are you and your wife both literally perfect for booktube? Both of you are so unique in the way you read/ review books - in the best way of course. Your wife is a total sunshine and her positive energy is making me want to pick a book up asap. So I have this whole trilogy on my bookshelf kind of been putting it off I've loved every book that Anthony Ryan is ever written except for the last books after blood song as far as this book the Pariah I like the way the story started it caught me right from the beginning made me want to continue I have that problem when I read if the story doesn't catch me within the first 50 pages I'm done DNF and I really enjoyed how it was first person and how he would break the fourth wall and talk to the reader I'm only about 150 pages into it but I'm all in great review new subscriber here keep up the cool reviews the skit at the beginning of the video super funny man keep it up I'll keep watching

I started reading the book a couple of weeks ago, and I must say, contrary to what you said, the first 3d of the book is what caught me up. For a person who doesnt read that much, I liked that part of the story so much, that I began spending every second of free time that I had just to read one more paragraph. MINI-SPOILER FROM HERE I loved Deckin so much, it quickly became my favourite character of the book, and one of my favourite characters of all time. And although I was expecting his fate, I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. I was praying after every paragraph for it not to happen, but once I read about his fingers, I knew there was no way back and there was not going to be epic rescue. It shocked me and chilled me to the bone.

Well I was going to see if my library has this book but sadly it does not. Another library close by has it but it is out. 😢 Your channel is really giving me the need to branch out. I just finished The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. I was wondering if you have read this? If so what did you give it for a rating. I'm usually about the action but I'm starting to see character building can be just as entertaining and definitely more emotional attachments. Lol ok done rambling and yes another comment. Good news I don't have many videos left to watch so the comments should dwindle to new content only. Lol

Heavy SERIES spoilers below: But as nobody has made a review for the entire series let me say this: The major issue you have being how Alwyn regards himself is definitely one of those things that gets better over time as you can kinda fill in a lot of the blanks and as the writing gets better you assume that its party as Alwyn becomes a better writer and I think AJ Ryan really gave himself a good get out of jail card with the way it was written. As this trilogy goes on I still say that the second part of the second book is maybe the best thing he has written. Which makes it so hard when by the 3rd book so many things are left unanswered. Its like all of those GOOJF cards are cashed in and its still not enough. This was unfortunately a similar thing with Blood Song, the 2nd book was incredible and while the conclusion IS NOT BAD it also is not the good satisfying conclusion that you hope to get. Which could be intentional in that not all things end the way you want them to; but I think especially in this series that 3rd book was not what it could have and should have been. He is really good at making battle scenes and they almost all get skipped in the 3rd book. He is good at setting up an explanation for how this book was written and an escape for his writing as it wasnt him it was Alwyn writing the book. But then it never showed Alwyn writing it. It set up a few things that should have seemed like dangerous plot points in the future and then just like had no reason for including them? Why was his son sieging a city included at all? Old characters came back and some filled the roles that Alwyn himself couldnt (Juhlina) but like come on. I was really really loving this untrustworthy narrator idea and then it all went out. I do plan on rereading and relistening to the entire series to be able to give a proper decision. But as it stands I hate to say that it feels like he fell into the same hole that he fell into previously. Anthony Ryan would be a top tier writer if he was just able to finish out the 3rd act. That is one of the singular and sole things that is holding him back. And I really really hope that he is able to learn and fix those errors because I do love everything about his writing style otherwise.
