thank you so much for posting this video, this is the FIRST demo of the ibanez az range that actually puts the trem to the test and I'm so relieved it stayed in tune! i have been following the az series very closely and have been very impressed by the tone, the design, the specs, the finishes. however, the non locking trem was the final ''box to tick'' and thanx to YOUR VIDEO, I'm gonna buy one(prestige az2404tff)

@@Dante-xf1mu whats up bro, hey unfortunately I ended up buying an Ibanez j custom(Jcrg8570mwnt model) instead. I don't regret it as it does everything I need(heavy staccatto riffs, shreds, and those beautiful "in between" strat'ish tones. obviously it doesnt do the straty stuff like the AZ tho. Make no mistake, an AZ prestige hss z nxt on my list.

@@Dante-xf1mu Its absolutely amazing. It has h-s-h configuration, dimarzio tone zone, true velv, air norton pups. Its a no nonsense shred machine! that being said, what really caught me by suprise was how well it cleans up in pos. 2 and 4(split tones) Its a completely different animal to the AZ. If my j custom is a "shredders axe" then the AZ is a "swiss army knife" Both incredible instruments for different applications.

@@danray919 the other bit of the equation could be the saddles, but those should give problems on both the prestige and premium models because they're identical apart from the formers being titanium. I think there are compatible locking saddles from Wilkinson at a non super expensive price, but my AZ premium is fine, at least the way I use the lever.

Does locking tuners help the guitar to stay in tune while you are using a non locking tremolo/whammybar ? I want my next guitar to have a non locking tremolo, I do not use the trem that much but when I play stuff like Iron Maiden I want to be able to use it sometimes without it going out of tune to much. I have tried a PRS SE Standard and that guitar held its tuning after moderate amount of non locking trem action, however a Squier Classic Vibe 70s I tried did not hold it's tuning at all after even light amount of trem. Both guitars did not have locking tuners on them so does that make any difference ?

Hello, good video would be great and you would do us a favor to many people if you recorded a video of how you made the adjustments with that gotoh bridge ... I have the same guitar and I get the G and B strings out of tune a lot. The guitar comes with 0.10 of factory ... What did you do? Did you change the strings to another thickness? Did you remove some springs from the back? Is the setting the same as for a guitar with floyd rose?

Hello, I own an Ibanez AZ 2204 ICM. Mine doesn't handle heavy use at all. How did you get that stability? Is it in relation with the gage strings (I use 9 to 42) and the number of springs? My guitar has been set up by a pro luthier but I'm not satisfied with my floating bridge, it doesn't keep in tune at all...
@arminsenpai6755
@arminsenpai6755 3 жыл бұрын
Check ur nut bro. The critical point on this guitar is at the nut. Maybe the slots are not big enough and the strings couldn’t glide. The other thing is that the trem should be parallel with the body. Tuning stability needs a perfect balance of tension between springs and strings.

Half way into the video it was put out of tune, until he kept playing and yanked it so that it was in position at the end. Also with mild distortion that's hiding the tuning, put it in high gain and it will be more obvious out. Still really good for non locking.

It's almost always the nut binding in my experience. I carefully file the slots ensuring not to make them too low and angle them towards the tuners, and add a little Nut Sauce lube for good measure. I've done this for a lot of guitars and you can beat the heck out of the whammy and they stay in tune relatively well.
