They're great for those of us with small hands too. I never got into lead with a full size, but my Yellow Mikro has opened up the neck for me.

My friend recommended one of these to me for my first electric guitar because I'm 5'4 with small hands that can't reach off of the frets! Its pretty great for short adults as well!!

Just bought one yesterday as a gift for a kid in my family. I'm now keeping it and buying another one for the kid! Sounds absolutely like a beast, shreds extremely smooth and it's as cheap as it is portable. Great guitar!

You've essentially described my entire first attempt at learning guitar at 13. I gave up and and thankfully gave it another go at 15. No music teacher, no acoustic. Just a record player and Iron Maiden

My son's first rig at the age of 13-14. Peavey Envoy 110, DigiTech RP100 (Tons of crazy sounds kids go wild over) and an Epiphone Les Paul Special. Not top quality gear to say the least, but at the time he loved it. 8 years on, and he still plays. Now with more proper gear obviously. So, parents, Rob and Lee are correct. Get them something THEY WANT to play, not what you think they should.

I built my own 3/4 scale a few years back and its awesome . It permanently lives on my couch plugged into to a little practice amp which is tucked away in the corner. I pick it up basically every time I walk into the room and my playing has benefited so much. Everyone should have one

The beginning of this guitar was in Brazil, in the state of Bahia, with the guitarist "Armandinho". He gave the name of "Baiana Guitar" and since then, he is known for his work and music, working with several other guitarists and considered one of the best in Brazil.

At the 9 minute mark, talking about kids wanting to learn guitar back in the 90's and having teachers basically drive them out of it. Yeah, that was my experience. Back then guitar shops and teachers were guys who never made it big in the 60's and 70's who hated young people and were always playing gate-keeper to the instrument. Think the comic book guy from the Simpsons, only usually very skinny and balding with a grey ponytail. It's a million times better today.

Completely agree with you guys on lessons - My guitar teacher started by asking me what I would like to learn, and I was hooked from then on, I did start on acoustic though. I think initially learning what you want to be able to play ignites the fire to want to play more and then practice doesn't feel like practice - and that's the best way to love playing an instrument rather than just "playing" an instrument.

I've been using a Mikro for years as a travel guitar and a guitar for my kid. They finally made a tobacco burst with a maple board. I modded one of mine with Alnico V pups and 50s wiring and the other got a custom made pickguard with a bridge pup only and 50s wiring. I also make custom pickguards on order for them too. They are awesome little guitars!

totally agree about the "I wanna learn slayer" bit, first thing my bass teacher said to me on my first lesson was "what's your favourite bands?" needless to say the second song I ever learned was supermassive black hole by muse, learn the songs you wanna hear, that's the key to success!

I started my 9 year old daughter on one of these. she has now progressed to a Fender Strat "Smart Size" that I found. MIJ with a 22" neck but Fender quality hardware and workmanship. Great little guitar. But the Ibanez was a great starter.

I bought one. Replaced the pickups and tuning pegs with locking. And tuned it to drop A. I use it for live. No regrets.

100% agree with the acoustic/ electric guitar comment for beginners, i hated playing guitar when i first started learning on an acoustic, bought myself an electric after a couple of years and completely fell in love with it!

Literally every point about teaching here is spot on, I had guitar lessons on a 3/4 sized classical when I was 11 and stopped going after about 5 lessons as he literally tried to teach me green sleeves and I was just not interested my dream at the time was a squire strat of all things eventually a few years later i managed to save some money and beg my parents to put up the rest of it and i just taught myself in my room from tabs online and things my mates at school showed me, because i could sit and learn back in black or in too deep if i damn well wanted to and thats what i wanted to do, i had a passion for playing that kind of guitar when i was 11/13 not picking away classical tunes. Now i have lessons from a guy who i basically just sit and jam with and learn random things we fancy and he just kinda guides me to tunes he thinks have things i could work on with but also knows what i like...i can barely put the thing down nowadays. always the pink ibanez.

My hands are small to the point where I can't hold down an F chord on a full size guitar no matter how much I stretch and strain. This mikro guitar has finally allowed me to play and I love it with all my heart

I got one of these, because I'm a beginner with small hands. Being as I'm a beginner however I find it even harder not to press two strings at the same time. I bought it from Andertons by the way.

I just bought one for 66.00 bucks U.S.D. but the total ended up coming to 96$ bucks from shipping....it's a lefty too I'm excited to try it out I've grew up learning guitar from right handed strat style guitars I just did what came natural and just flipped the guitar backwards and just learn to play by ear I got my 1st guitar on December 25th 1996' but my parents never thought about that I needed a left handed guitar so I ended getting a right handed one and I was 7yrs old then.....I'm 31yrs old now and for years I learned to play a right handed guitar upside down but I realized I can't properly put my fingers right to play power chords because of the strings being backwards for me....so I eventually decided to get my 1st right handed guitar restrung reversed so it would be strung like a left handed guitar and basically threw out everything I learned those past numerous years and relearned how to play correctly with power chords and other chords and thankfully I did that because it opened up the possibilities for me to play soooo much more than I could before!! But I still had Alot of issues playing a right handed guitar like I originally finger picked or strum the strings by hand but quickly realized if I was going to learn Thrash and Death Metal music I better learn how to use a pick so I could start practicing that well known chugging palm muted sound that practically all Metal uses so I realized I have trouble palm muting somewhat because my 5-way switch and my 2 tone and volume knobs get in the way of my muting hand.....or the guitar cord where it plugs into your guitar I hit my arm on Alot....another issue was me not being able to ever really practice soloing way high on the fretboard because having a strat body style guitar and it being a right handed the lower horn on the guitar is on the wrong side for me so I play as about as low as like maybe the 14th-16th fret without overstretching my hand to get lower on the fretboard and 3rd issue was never being able to practice standing up to play ice always sat down when playing because the guitar strap bolts that you hook ur strap onto are also on the opposite side so I haven't gotten really any practice with standing up to play which I think would make it sort of more comfortable to play correctly instead of the way I sit my guitar so getting this new Left handed should solve the majority of those annoying issues and plus I have smaller hands so it's a plus it's a Mikro Ibanez

No, silly, the neck is maple on both. The fretboard is rosewood on yours. This is my one time a year to know something, please don't take it from me. Love the video!

I got my first full size electric when I was 10 years old I was maybe slightly below average size it was a 2006 Ibanez rg370dx that I still have to this day it was perfect for me at that time and still is

I'm 4'11 and have rly small hands- I picked one up in a music store and it was great! Went home saved up a bit of money for the guitar and everything I needed for it and ordered it. When I go pick it up from the store and try it out I hope it goes well!

I bought a gio mikro 10 years ago as my first guitar and i still play that thing all the time and i love it. I even did the chappers rig competition with it.

I have a Fender Player Stratocaster and have just bought a Ibanez GRGM21 GIO miKro guitar. I love my Fender, but as I’m a girl with very small hands, I’m having so much fun with the Mikro Ibanez. It’s definitely not the same quality as Fender, but it’s not a million miles away and is really great value for money. I also have a Ibanez Mikro bass, which again is just brilliant 😊

I like tuning the mikro guitar to a Tenor or Alto guitar. The shorter scale length makes it pretty easy to achieve.

I got one of these a while back because of the scale length. It does make stretchy chords much easier to play. Unfortunately the electronics and tuners are not very good. I had the pickups replaced and had locking tuners put on and it is much better. It is very comfortable to play. I also say it's better to start learning on electric than acoustic. Once you get decent with an electric guitar you will automatically be able to play acoustic fine, and learning will be far easier.

I just got the Mikro bass (28.6 inch) and I love it! Short scale basses have a unique tone and its really bendy and thumpy.

Just ordered the white model for my 7 year old. Can't wait.

I have a question. I'm an adult man, with 'normal-sized' hands who just bought a regular stratocaster to try and learn how to play. I saw this video and found this little guitar SO FREAKING AWESOME! Question: if I bought this guitar to practice, would this smaller size be bad for my learning or it would not affect it? Thanks for the attention!

To the acoustic vs electric. I'm a teacher of both and a LOT of students that transitioned from acoustic have massiv problems with right hand and placing it properly to palm mute. They're just so used to stick out the wrist.

Good point on chosing instruments for children. When I was a school kid and I wanted to learn drums they passed me some bongos. Those who asked to play guitar were given recorders. Typically music lessons (in the 1990's at least) really sucked because the teachers and/or education system just didn't get it.

Having recently bought a Mikro bass which is perfect for my arthritic stubby fingers, I’m now jonesing for a Micro guitar or maybe a Mitchell MM100. I have a couple Peavey T-15s and a T-30 which are 23.5” Birdland scale, but considering how much easier I can play the 28.6” bass compared to a 30.5” Epiphone Viola bass, I want to try smaller. Only downside is that my fingers are also thick and don’t fit between the higher frets. But for anyone with shorter and/or less mobile fingers who picks up Guitar late in life, these short scales are a Godsend.

if you're asian or around 5 foot 7 inch.. this fits like a glove. normal sized are great but this is such a relief for shoulder joint. less stretches.

I went to my first lesson when I was 15 and wanted to play Purple Haze, and my teacher taught me purple haze. We started chord exercises with 4 chord songs the next week. I was introduced to Zeppelin and the blues scale 2 months later, things progressed quickly.

I got this one on 2018 on a pawn shop for $70 bucks. It’s my office guitar. Love it

I have the "real" :) Ibanez version, RGM55 MiKro. Made in Indonesia. 22.75" scale length, DiMarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton. I use it with a Vox Rhythm Mini5 amp. It's a fun combo.

I wish Gibson would do this. Make a full fat 3/4 Les Paul Standard. I'd buy that just because... never mind my kids;-)

My ex-girlfriend's father had a Fender "student-sized" electric guitar in their basement. Looked to be from the late 50's or maybe 60's manufacture. Don't know what became of the guitar, but she's married with two kids. Lol!

Nothing wrong with these for adults as well, as mentioned in the comments over and over, I have always struggled with lead, this Ibanez makes it so much of a breeze. Came across when I learnt John Lennon played a short scale 3/4 and man look at what the beatles did!
