It's been a while since we had a product in for review but we've had this awesome Ibanez bass in the studio since last year and forgot to review it!
It caused a divide in opinion on our social accounts for this particular colour but check out the video and see what it's all about!

I got one for Christmas, not my first electric bass, my first bass was a Johnson P style bass and that was 18 years ago of saving up lunch money for half a school year to get it. For the low price, brand new, I was afraid I was regret it. I was really surprised about how it had a good and versatile tone. My Epiphone Les Paul that I sold to make ends meet, didn't have the versatility that the Ibanez TMB100 Talman has. I never had a bass with active electronics, so I tuned in for the review to learn more about it. So thanks man, I'm a year late but I found your review helpful.

I'm sold. I've been looking for a second bass for awhile but I've become very picky about my fretboard. I have been playing with a maple fretboard for over 30 years. I've come to realize that I can't get a maple fretboard for the price I want to spend on a backup bass. I think that because I don't the eq on this bass will allow me the versatility to come up with a bright enough tone to match my maple fretboard bass.

I have both of these, and they feel really dofferent, yet very coolboth of them, imo the SGR maybe would fit better in some more agressive generes for any kind of metal, and the Tmb I use it for rock sounds, blues, jazz, i feel it more versátil, and a big difference is that the tmb neck is really thick, while the SGR is thinner and faster to play, but both are amazing

I love Ibanez basses. I play a BTB745 and used to own a MIJ SR800. Was really disappointed with my Talman TMB100. I've had mine for a couple of months and found: - out the box the volume and tone controls were loose to the point they flopped about - there were visible small gaps at the neck joint - the mint colour is far lighter than in the photos and videos - paint is flaking around the neck joint - the nut was filed way too low - pick ups were poorly installed. Really high under the E string and really low under the G. Had to properly install them - the cut outs for the pick ups were really roughly cut On a positive note it is a cool looking bass and the neck feels great but did need to adjust the nut If it wasn't for the fact I bought this with the plan to convert to vintage style passive pick ups and put a maple P neck with reverse head stock, I would have sent it back straight away.

The answer from Andre is correct, this is standard scale. if you wanted short scale it would be the TMB30 you would need and from memory it only comes in black finish.

This is just a standard scale bass. the TMB30 is short scale.

I wouldn’t really call it a review because you didn’t really share any opinions on it. I’d call it more of an overview.

Thanks for stopping by and watching. we've never seen anyone stop by to question the title of a video but to clarify the following opinions were expressed throughout this video. Opinion on the colour and how it divides peoples opinions, comparison not only with other bases in the Ibanez range but also how it can compare with other manufacturers, opinion on the quality of the parts used, opinion on the controls available, and an important one in the opinion on its affordability. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for your question. weight isn't listed on any official spec lists but it feels pretty standard and not too heavy.

Thanks for the question. As with all active basses, battery life can massively depend on how often you are using the bass. A regular user would expect to get about 6 months out of a standard 9v battery, providing the player unplugs the instrument cable between uses. hope this helps!

Purchased two. The first one had messed up electronics, the second one had messed up electronics. The bass plays great but underneath that hood is garbage, and quite unreliable for any sort of serious use.

Thanks for your comment and sorry to hear you had a couple of issues. we have had our under heavy use from all kinds of students and at showcases here at the studio and its stood up will and sounds great. Of course in all production runs there will be some error and faults and seems you've been unlucky with them on 2 occasions. hope you're enjoying whatever you got in its place. thanks for watching.
