Bought my first Ibanez Talman 4-string a few weeks ago, tweaked it with Seymour Duncans, and it blows the doors off! Now I'm looking for a 5-string version and guess what popped up? YOUR VIDEO!

You crack me up Johnny, love the Ibanez Talman basses, for the money they are awesome. I have the TMB100 and love it. I would love to get a five string version though.

You do know that there are possibly women watching so maybe you might not say “ballsey “”. But you made a believer out of me about this bass

Hacked mine up. Put a Tone Monster 4 knob in it. Volume, blend, mid, stacked bass and treble. Big improvement. The stock one wasn't terrible, but it had a defect and it crapped out on some notes. Plus I wanted a mid control. This bass seems to lack much detectable midrange frequencies in the factory setup. I also replaced the neck pickup with a "Bitterroot" eBay pickup from hildrethja. Those are inexpensive and really impressive for the money. So mine has two more knobs in a row than stock now. Fits fine. Very little modification to the cavity to make everything fit. The Talman has an unusual body route underneath. Love to see how yours turned out. Thinking about a white pearloid guard or black/white outline on this. Have to do custom since these guards come in any color you like....as long as you like tortiseshell.

I got the tmb 310,4 string in turquoise sparkle, and it's awesome,i improved by taking the flimsy bridge off, I had an esp bridge that fit perfectly and though I can notice how much heavier it is, these things are built like tanks but WELL worth the money

The hardware is junk though, wait till your tension tree strips out while your tuning it,or when the jack plate just falls out for no reason, and just hope, your tuners dont decide to come loose and fall out, because their cheaply pressed together, and when your stack knobs start getting hard to turn,be careful their about to break to,so after fixing all this with longer screws, new tuners, etc it is a really nice bass, the pick ups,oh one more thing, when your battery cover falls out because the studs lose grio,a little gorilla glue helps fix it,ive had to do all this to my tmb 310 turquoise sparkle, just like yours,i do hope you have better luck with🤘

It'd be interesting to do a pinch harmonics test right on the dividing line between the two P pickups to tell if it's located in exactly the same position harmonically (relative to open strings) as a Fender. Any small variation will make a tonal difference. Love your vids, always fun!

Hi Johnny...my bride bought me the 4-string model...I’m assumin’ that it be called the TM-104 on account of it havin’ just four strings. The only other difference is that mine got a slider switch up on the pick guard about 3” from the G string and halfway between the front P pickup and the bottom of the fingerboard. It lets me shut off the active bass and treble and go passive in case the battery takes a crap or my mojo got me working in the vintage tone groove. I gotta go lookin’ for how y’all gussied up your lady there at the hobo depot.

Hey Johnny how do you like working on the tmb's? ,If the 105s are like the 310s,there 3 preamps inside, one on each pot and then the master preamp ,these are LOUD,i have a Peavy max 115 amo,i literally set my gain at like3 and volume the same,my neighbors 4 houses down hears it,i do gotta say the talmons Are heavy oré⁴ the shoulder, the stock tuners are junk and the pots fall apart REAL easy, mine both broke the knobs pulled right out in my hand,i still love my mean sparkly turquoise funk machine

Love your vids, johnny I love basses, but only have four.. I'm looking for a P bass for cheap.. 2 jazz basses, one ESP 5 string and my baby Musicman stingray. Can't stop wanting more.

Ian Viereck There are similar Ibanez basses, I think they are also TMB's' starting at like $200 or $100. There are of course better, more expensive models if you are interested.

If you take a green scratch pad to the neck, take some of that gloss off,it makes it way better to play

Hey Johnny! Whatever happened to this girl? U got me all excited, thinkin there's gonna be some follow up video...I'm still waiting! 😁 Really tho, seems to me that Ibanez is the only real big bass name that seems to have done retro right...it's definitely still in the ATK's shadow, but it's still pretty great!
