@@TOCC50 Pete's not brain dead but he does have brain injury and you can hear it in the way he speaks. I personally wonder at what point it became very prominent because in the early 2010's he still sounded normal. He had some youtube videos two years ago that showed him working out in the gym, he could still hit the bags pretty good and bang the speed bag, but when he talks you can tell.

McNeely had some decent potential, was brave and decent in his prime. The big problem was he heavily abused alcohol and cocaine (his own words) and somewhere a long the line he got brain damage. If he boxed clean, really got into training clean I think he would have had way more potential. Much respect to McNeely and Tyson, they both respect each other and say good things about each other nowadays

I agree I fell in love with McNeely when he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off high on cocaine trying to fight Mike Tyson I really believe outside of the Ring Peter wouldn't hurt a fly but he wants to make people proud of him so bad I hope he's being taken care of

Pete was connected with Raymond Patriarca’s crew. In particular, Matt Guglieetti, who could arrange for fights like this and more. At this time, Pete was a mess.

I’ve seen some recordings of Pete’s few amature fights and he was actually half way decent . He knocked out a dude who made it to the Olympic trials. He only had like 20 amateur fights total but he was pretty good locally in New England. He just wasn’t cut out for high level pros, even mid level . But he wasn’t terrible as an amateur and won the majority of his fights
