This lecture describes how digital cameras for microscopes work, what a "pixel" is, Nyquist sampling, the dynamic range, noise, and color cameras. The features of an image is described, included bit-depth, intensity scaling and histograms, file formats and basic image processing.

I've been performing fluorescence microscopy experiments for years and was mostly trained on the job. Having watched this video, a lot of things that didn't make sense before, both in data acquisition and analysis, have clicked. And it only took ~30 minutes. Must-watch for all students/researchers employing fluorescence microscopy experiments!

Resolution limit = 2* (pixel_size / Magnification) This is literally all I needed but it was nowhere to be found. Thank you for this!

Why are higher bits necessaroly.brighter..that's not true necessarily..they might all be darker and therefore dark..
