An extra tip for that final anime touch (i learnt it from whytmanga) is to duplicate the picture and gaussian blur the duplicate and then put layer mode as multiply I hope i helped anyone who tried this 😁

Thanks to you, I’ve learned so much about how important layering can be, it always seems to bring just as much life as you would want into a drawing, now that I know how to create pretty cool backgrounds I can start making pieces I can be proud of, enough with the white or checkered backgrounds for me.

IbisPaint is really cool! The only thing that prevents me from working on it is that the maximum canvas size is very small. The canvas can only go up to 4,096 pixels. At the very least it should go up to 5,000 pixels to produce more professional work. In Procreate, the largest canvas size on the iPad Pro is 8192 x 8192 pixels, or up to 16384 x 4096 pixels. IbisPaint is better than Procreate in a lot of ways because it has more features. But it's unusable at this time for professional work because the canvas cannot be made big enough.

I know this is kinda cheating, but hey, as long as the picture is free for the public to use it's okay (this is coming from someone who also do that). However you should really put a practice on background if that's one of your art bucket list, just saying.

It's not cheating. Its combining mediums, drawing is not the only form of art, photography and editing are art too, so you still made the background yourself.

@@SugarCaptain I mean not everyone has to be able to draw backgrounds, a lot of people also just trace it from a photo of a background, it's not really shameful to do that unless you're a scenery artist that cannot actually draw scenery. Many comic artists process an artifical scenery from blender as their backgrounds instead of drawing it freehand and that's fine
