This may be the best primitive survival/bow building video I've ever done. While on a recent trip to a tropical island, I took on the challenge of building a primitive survival bow, arrow, and bow string from local materials and seeing if I could complete an island survival challenge catch and cook. The primitive bow string was made from variegated snake plant, the primitive bow, from a large piece of bamboo. For the arrow I used a smaller bamboo shoot and tipped it with a trade point. I built a fire with a bamboo fire saw to straighten the bamboo arrow shaft and complete the survival bow build. When my primitive bow hunting kit was complete I took it out to hunt feral goats in the steep cliffs of the island. After sitting through a few rain showers and high winds, I was finally able to get close enough for a shot at a small goat, perfect for primitive cooking. I used my large knife (the Marshal from Montana Knife Company) to build everything, including the bamboo cooker. I cooked the goat in a primitive bamboo pressure cooker with coconut water and mango. It was one of the best wild, primitive cooked meals I've ever enjoyed!

@IngeniousOutdoors

Little did he know, he could've made the entire bow out of bamboo. String, Bow, arrow shaft, arrow tip (there used to be a video on how to make one and it's shot clean through a banana tree and then a coconut) as well as the fletching from the leaves. Bamboo is so cool. Also since you were able to get those snake plant fibers so (relatively) easy, I would suggest learning the rudiger/fire roll. Everyone always says "BuT tHeReS nO cHaRcOaL iN tHe BuSh" it doesn't need charcoal it works with a host of natural fibers and a plethora of fillers and itll save you loads of calories over methods like the fire saw. Happy crafting! 😁👍

Really enjoyed the video Clay! I spent eleven years in Hawaii as a youth and was able to see it before it became densely populated with so many restrictions to adventures like yours!
