I've been hoping to see this reaction. Yay! So happy. I just felt that he captured the truth about that kind of pain without having to be over the top or go into long drawn out phrases. What's more descriptive than "if I'm in the crowd, do I stand alone? You know all the words but don't sing along." I've honestly never heard someone put it so simply, yet so accurately. When you deeply love someone who doesn't have that same spark in their eyes for you- the loneliness. The way you still hope and question that person but they're not honest with you, so you keep hoping. But deep down you feel foolish and like a joke no matter how much more you try to give.. Love can be cruel. And I was so touched that it wasn't about longing or memories or all the other stuff thats been done before. It's about what we do to ourselves, the true heartache of what goes on inside when you're not loved back. That struggle and self doubt. I've never heard it expressed so honestly.

I loved his audition

His accent is from the north-east of England (Newcastle-upon-Tyne area - what is called a 'Geordie' accent) but he's been living in London for about five years so it's softened. He was robbed of a place on the live shows because they knew he'd be a threat to the chosen one, Grace Davies, but now many of the other contestants have made Grace look like an also-ran which serves the show right. Aidan already has offers to release this song as a single.

Have you ever seen the film version of Billy Elliot? It's the same accent the characters speak with in that because it's set nearby in County Durham, which is also in the North East of England, but just a bit further south than Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
