This program was originally recorded on May 23, 2024 as part of Gardiner Museum's International Ceramic Art Fair. Featured artist Halima Cassell joined Dr. Sequoia Miller, Gardiner Museum Chief Curator & Deputy Director, for a discussion about Cassell's practice. She is represented by Joanna Bird Contemporary Collections.
Halima Cassell’s intuitive understanding of the physical nature of the material she uses is key to her multi-faceted practice. Her carved sculptures speak volumes of the fluency she achieves-with their playful manipulation of tapering planes, hollows, and voids. Her work is a visual feast of symmetry and natural beauty.
