Exactly, it's a dope diss but let's be honest...it's not exactly Deck rippin through Wu-Tang. Who was gonna respond? Yella and Jerry don't rap, Cube wrote for Eazy and Dre, and that leaves the second string rapper that don't make the top 100 🤷‍♂️

@@lyricsanonymous9036 1 - Ren was an underrated lyricist.NWA's shit was still dope when Cube left because of Ren and DOC. 2 - NWA dissed Cube first. That's the op's point. 3 - What distinguishes "No Vaseline" isn't even the lyrical dexterity displayed as much as how politically incorrect it was by today's standards.

I'm glad you said this wasn't petty at the end of this track. Cube was not being petty at all. He was throwing all types of haymakers lol It's funny that he said "I'll never have dinner with the president" and then at down with Trump, though. You got to react to Common diss to Ice Cube. It's called The Bitch in Yo (prod. by Pete Rock). It's my favorite diss of all time. At that time everybody thought that Common was soft, he was dating Erykah Badu, was making love songs and Ice Cube was the blueprint Westcoast rapper. Ice Cube dissed Common because he felt he was dissing the west coast on the song "I used to love h.e.r." and then Common spazzed in The Bitch in Yo diss

And this why I think this diss is way better than Hit Em Up. Ice Cube was creatively saying they were getting messed over by the white man. The angle was perfect and well executed. Can’t be niggas with attitude and be controlled by their manager. Not only was this aggressive but it was creative. I think people just hear a bunch of loud cursing and disrespectful stuff (no matter the accuracy of it) and think that’s what makes a great diss. Nah this had all the elements of being the best diss track ever

My relationship with Ice Cube has been... 🎢 Ice Cube was my favorite rapper for a while when I was young. I appreciated his early stuff like AMW and KAW, and I loved NWA, but when Death Certificate came out, that sealed the deal. Good Day was a masterpiece! Plus, I desperately wanted that Green/Gold Impala!😍 I also really liked some of the other stuff that was happening around that time, like Doug E Fresh & Slick Rick, and Eric B & Rakim(yeah, I'm older than ish); but the trend was hardcore gangsta rap when I got my first CD player and began buying my own music, so it feels like that's almost where I started my relationship with hip hop. And even though Ice Cube was my #1, I still loved some of the other music coming out from artists like Tupac and Eazy-E. I still think "It's on Dre" is one of the most underappreciated rap albums ever. It wasn't long before I bought The Chronic and Doggystyle though, and those 2 changed everything. They just hit different, and I couldn't listen to them enough. So I didn't listen to Ice Cube as much anymore. But a few years later, Friday happened, which became my favorite movie. And ironically, when All Eyes on Me dropped, Tupac took over as my #1. That album barely left my car's single disc player for about a year, even though at that age, things gain and lose popularity fast. And in regard to Friday, even 3-6yrs later when I was in college, Friday was playing in the background at half of all the house parties...throughout all of college! And I still watch it sometimes when it comes on. So any way I look at it, Ice Cube was a decent-sized part of my youth. I wish I could feel the same way about him now, as I did back then; but as an adult, I just see a lot of hypocrisy. Of course there's the "playing a role", fake gangsta stuff. But that wasn't what did it for me. It was when I saw him on Bill Maher.🙇 For anyone who doesn't know, Bill got a little too comfortable with his place among his many black friends, and he jokingly said "I'm not a house n----", during one of his shows. He obviously received immense backlash, and decided to have several black guests on his next show, to address the issue. I thought Michael Eric Dyson was phenomenal. He told Bill he knew he didn't mean harm, but that he still caused harm, and why. Of course he said it in the most eloquent way possible, because that's just how he rolls. But then the show ends with Ice Cube coming on, and divisively saying his peace about white people using that word. Now don't get me wrong, I don't disagree with most of his sentiments. I strongly believe white people shouldn't ever use that word(for several reasons); and I also think it's amazing how black people can use that one word(which could also be considered to be the most harmful word in our language) to mean so many different things just by changing the tonation...and that most of the uses come from such a positive place. But how is someone who's rapping negatively about Jews, (not to mention degrading women in violent fashion--if you need proof, just listen to track 8 on "Short Dog's in the House") going to tell anyone that they're wrong when they use a word that offends another race or person?!! And of course Bill couldn't point out Cube's hypocrisy, because that entire episode was centered on people telling Bill how he was wrong to use that word. So if he would have said..."Yeah, I know I was wrong; but Cube, you did a very similar thing when you portrayed Jews the way you did, or when you rapped about acts of violence against 'b!+c#es'--and unlike me, you actually meant it in a harmful way"...it would have defeated the show's purpose. So Bill's hands were tied, and Ice Cube just got to freely scold Bill. Having Michael Eric Dyson weigh in was perfect. But then ending with Ice Cube was like bringing in Michael Vick to condemn the mistreatment of cats.🤦‍♂️ So I'm in a weird spot. I love the artistic contributions Ice Cube has made throughout my lifetime. But I don't necessarily like the person. I guess a lot of people might feel that way about certain celebrities they grew up with though. Michael Jackson comes to mind.😬 Yikes! You start head-nodding and singing along(and maybe even bust out a couple dance moves), then think...wait, I'm not supposed to like this music anymore, because I detest the things the artist is accused of. Oh my gosh, was I just nodding my head to a pedo?!😱 It all gets very confusing.🙃 There's also Kramer from Seinfeld, Roseanne Barr, and many other examples. It's just a weird feeling to love what someone has created, for so long, but to dislike that someone. And if you've made it this far, please like, comment, subscribe!😂 Thanks to anyone who didn't fall asleep😴, and I'd love to hear Michelle's and everyone else's thoughts on Ice Cube.✌🙂
