This was recorded prior to the release of Amatsu so bear in mind Sunbreak is closer to completion than the state mentioned in the video! Please keep opinions friendly in the comments section and tell us why you prefer one over the other! :D

Everything that World/Iceborne did was top notch quality, presentation, and packaged in a way that struck you on an emotional level and felt more impactful. This was baked into every part of the game: Graphics, immersion, impacting feel of weapons, sounds, guiding lands introducing a whole new map made endgame feel so much more impactful, the effort put into event quests, seasonal events that did a great job at getting you into the spirit of the season/holiday, crossovers with high production, updates (even if it was just one new monster) felt huge and epic, the highly produced marketing and developer updates around post launch content which made things more exciting. Again, World excelled through it's presentation and overall sheer amount of premium quality and attention given to every aspect of the game. This is what I feel is the main reason why so many people prefer World. It grabbed them on an emotional level, and the level of attention and presentation impacted us to a point where it leaves a lasting impression on us. As for Rise/Sunbreak, it excels at the amount of variety and expansion throughout every aspect of the game. Variety in weapon moves, abilities, traversal/movement options, monster types, even more gameplay systems than world, even more endgame systems (Qurios weapon/armor crafting, rampage decos, afflicted monsters, extensive monster leveling system), more interesting build diversity. This game just gives you way more to do in my opinion. Base Rise was a little rough in how it utilized it's content, but Sunbreak changed that and it almost gave us too many options, systems, and things to grind towards. Rise/Sunbreak's focused on its overall choices, variety and utilization of its content is to a point where I feel you'll be burnt out on the game way before you ever actually get bored. If you're someone who doesnt care as much for graphics and immersion, and just want a video gamey ass video game, Rise/Sunbreak has you covered. For me personally, I'm never bored with Rise. It keeps me engaged simply for having so much to do, so many interesting ways to build, and so many carrots to chase. But that comes with the curse of burning out on it, because it can sometimes be too much. But I have to admit that World/Iceborne's presentation, immersion, and overall quality made that game unforgettable for me. Everything about that game struck me at an emotional core, to the point where those huge True Charge Slashes, my first Fatalis kill, or the hype I had after a big developer update, are Monster Hunter moments that come to my mind first before Rise ever does.

You might've forgotten to mention the endgame Qurio Augment system in Rise. It's like Safi grinding in Iceborne, except now it's not limited to just weapons from said monster, but all endgame weapons and armors as well. Grinding Anomaly Investigations is very exhausting however, most low-tier Afflicted monsters are just glorified punching bags that you hit nonstop for 10 minutes straight.

I played the endgame of Worldborne then came to Sunrise. Hands down for Sunrise being better overall for me personally. Worldborne felt like it hated my time and me a solo player. I play games for gamey experiences and fun. The immersion of Iceborne felt shallow after a while and I had less fun! Like the tracking. You just collect tracts in the beginning only to start taking a B-line to the monster each time as you become more experienced. Grinding lands felt very very inferior to inflicted. Inflicted at least gave a new goal with the monsters than just fighting the same ones with no changes.

I really don’t get the “realism” argument when it comes to monster hunter, you’re a normal sized human wielding weapons and wearing armor that easily weigh more then you do, you eat enough food to feed a family of four for a week and you go out and hunt creatures that couldn’t “realistically” exist with walking talking cats. “Realism” got taken out back and beaten to death with a swordfish lance well over a decade ago.

I have both games, I finished MHWIB, I'm just starting with the Expansion for MHRSB, but honestly I'm kinda just forcing my self to finish the game, I'm not having fun as much as when I played MHWIB. I haven't been playing MHWIB for almost a year now, but remembering my experience from playing it before, and comparing it to my experience now in MHRSB, it's just different. I understand others prefer Rise Sunbreak, but it really does not feel like a MH game for me. World Iceborne on the other hand, although there's a big difference in gameplay compared to the other MH games I played before (MHFU & MH3rd Portable) there's still the sense of "hunting" monsters, which the Rise Sunbreak removed from its gameplay mechanics. It really is a let down, having a dog now during hunts but not utilizing its strong sense of smell in tracking monsters. I thought that's what they were going for when I first saw the trailer years back. But no, you don't track monsters at all because you already see them on the map. I like how your character is now talking though like when a monster is after your teammate, they will warn them, or when a monster is capturable they will say something about it. Maybe I just want to see in a MH game the best of both, like easier maneuverability across the map, but also there is still the sense of hunting. something like that :D

In mhwi i do guiding lands just to get power to beat endgame monsters like alatreon or fatalis and it was boring... But in mhrs I'm actually love fight afflicted monsters and grind to see strongest monsters (105 affl lvl atm), so i prefer mhrs endgame much more, but last fights in mhwi easy beat any in mhrs

Sunbreak took the win for me, I'm a solo player But i have AI friend on Sunbreak Hinoa & Galleus are my best pal I have to admit Iceborne is more immersive, and have better graphics sure But it truly felt like the prototype of modern monster hunter cuz it's the first iteration to the modern engine (mechanically) I like my freedom of movement on Sunbreak way more, although the Endgame monster are so punishing with AOE to balance it. The worst thing on Iceborne is definitely the forced clutch claw gameplay, I mean why does the player getting punished for not using it, like come on It feels like the developer says "hey I suffer a lot to make this new cool feature, you better use it grrrrrrr"

The only thing which sucked in Iceborne, especially after revisiting it now, is the Clutch claw, it's so annoying I don't know how could I like it on IC release, but everything else top notch

I genuinely don't understand the hate for the clutch claw, gives mostly useless slinger actual usage, helps to deal with monsters with annoying fights(lavasioth, etc).of course it's not perfect literally nothing is but it's definitely a positive inclusion in my opinion

Honestly aesthetics was what made me not like Sunbreak as much as Iceborne. Not only did I prefer the Hoarfrost Reach over the Citadel, one of Rise's biggest strengths for me was the Japanese themes which were just... dropped in the DLC so I overall didn't enjoy it as much. Ultimately the expansions were probably the biggest deciding factor between both games.

Risebreak is great, worldborne is great. Worldborne has pickle Risebreak does not This is the only difference worth a damn. Worldborne slightly edges out risebreak because of this.

I got bored with Rise, it felt like a filler game. MHW sort of spoiled me with just how immersive the graphics and world felt. Imo MHW sort of raised the bar and when Rise came out it looked like the Netflix adaptation of MHW, with a very noticeable step down in quality. Rise has some interesting ideas, like palamutes and GTAing monsters and the wirebug. Personally, I never really got a lot of mileage out of since I play greatsword. I didn't really care for rampages. I am hoping with MH6 they go back to a more grounded design like MHW with the fancier graphics and do away with the generic weapon design and restore some of the more iconic weapons to their glory. Also, bring back underwater combat, thanks!

I like both games as both are fun but I'd haft to say for iceborne for me is the better game, I have my criticisms off iceborne but iceborne is overall better for the following reasons - The grounded gameplay and focus on the ecology and environment, this is the big thing I want from MH as a series and sunbreak kinda throws that out the window in favour of being a more generic flashy action game - mabye this is me being OCD but iceborne just has a more complete and healthy roaster of monsters overall, for me rise/sunbreaks roaster of monsters feels messy, incomplete and all over the place - and lastly I feel the title updates for iceborne where better cuz each one felt like a event that got everyone excited with the new big monster, sunbreak title updates by comparison are instead made up of a selection of variants of existing monsters, I've been away from the game for a while and it's only because of amatsu that I've been pooled back in, tho I very much feel like both games are guilty with not having appropriate MR requirements, especially iceborne, MR 24 is way to low for the likes of fatalis and alatreon

MHW is still my favorite MH game and has a true endgame. As a good game should be. MHRise has been a bit boring in that regard. I'm tired of doing anomalies and I'm only playing when my friends call me. I don't have the same excitement that I had with MHW. I don't know if it was Capcom's rush to bring content within the update deadline.

MHWI really ruin the most part of this game, Armor mixing and collecting. I really love monster hunter when you can experiment with many things , but in iceborne you cant freely build your armor.. It really feel limited. Personally, i dont really mind graphic and environment, so i kinda dissapointed by MHWI. But fatalis is really cool. Sunbreak become my favorite series because you get full control of your character, many armor skills, many charm, many moveset, and of course the monster have many moveset too. The endgame really great, my complain only at the grindy system. But Special investigation is a pure challenge. I prefer sunbreak.

World/Iceborne is the clear winner in every way. Rise/Sunbreak feels like a handheld game, which would be fine if World never existed. If I play them both back to back Rise/Sunbreak feels like it came out before World/Iceborne rather than after.

Sunbreak definitely has much better gear balancing, especially in endgame. Iceborne had a terrible gear balancing, especially with the DLCs. Remember when the Acidic Glavenus GS was considered op? Now it's a joke. This probably caused the developers to add a shitty elemental dps check with Alatreon, since the new Raging Brachy gear was so op, they literally had to force the players to play different style (which goes against the concept of freedom in Monster Hunter), just because they were insanely terrible at balancing the game
