Iceland in HD - Strokkur Geysir

Skip to eruption: 0:52 . Finally framed a good shot of Strokkur in Iceland during our June 2009 trip (disregarding the wind noise and my talking). It is one of the largest geysirs in the world, erupting every 8 to 10 minutes. It's big brother Geysir lies a few hundred feet away, and is the second largest in the world, but erupts less frequently.

when I was there it erupted on average every 4 min. I didn't have to wait longer than 5min in half an hour. sometimes there are 2 eruptions in 10 seconds and the next is in 5 minutes. or maybe more...

Cool thing that as the water comes to the air it turns to vapor...

I was there just a month ago. The time interval is about 5 to 8 minutes. It often erupts twice as you can see in my video.

how often does it erupt ?

@connorwmc Strokkur erupts pretty consistently every 6-8 minutes. I think on average it reaches 40-60 ft high.

@connorwmc 6-15 min you can check out live stream on a web cam m i l a . i s just click english at the top of the site, and the geyser web cam is only open from 9AM and 5PM GMT

Ha. Generally the weather does tend to fail in Iceland. I think overall, this was best weather day on our trip :)
