After damaging my Mini 3 Pro, I use the Mini 1 to obtain some amazing views of the flowing lava from the Fargradasfjall Volcanic eruption in Iceland in the Meradalir valley. The DJI Mini 1 drone proves it's still an incredible bit of kit and the perfect beginner's or back up drone to carry around.

Haven’t upgraded my mini 1 yet, and after getting it stuck on my roof for 3 days, the thing still works! Robust bit of kit, and for leisure stuff, perfect little drone.

The only thing I didn't like about my mini 1 was having to faff selecting a wifi frequency and using YAGI if I wanted any sort of decent range in a noisy area. I love my Mini 2 but the Mini 1 got me into drones and I think it's very underrated.

Another great video. Good old mini 1. Would love to take mine out there. Interesting to see the temperature warning. Never seen anyone receive that before. I wonder how hot it is say 50 meters up. Incredible. Did anyone see what look like a face in the lava at 2.10. Pair of eyes and a mouth! 😆

The Mini 1 rocks and is going to remain my grab-n-go machine for many years yet. Combined with it's slip through the regulations in the UK meaning it can fly where other drones can't and I'm a happy flyer!

Excelent footage!! I like your thinking of the mini1 as a backupdrone. Actually i bought a cheap mini 2 without controller (got the Air2 and were able to use the controller from that to the mini2 as well) were planning to fly some risky flights over water and so. 👍

Might be best to get the model with the zoom lens so you can fly higher where it's not so hot.

I seem to think that there are quite a few people too dam close to the lava for my liking, things & accident's happen quick!! Did you think so? Watching a couple of your great volcano videos the past few days, it sure looks like you stayed up there 😘🙌😋

Mini SE can be had as cheap as £220 new. Nice middle ground between old mini 1 and newer £400 mini 2

Ian, I have had the Mini1 since it first came out as well and it has proven to be a Beast of a little quad. I recently we forward with the Air 2S but the Mini isnt going anywhere. I think it is a very capable quad, especially as a backup.

Wow Ian did you lose it in the Lava or did the props melt on you, I am surprised to hear from you that you damaged the Mini 3 Pro, yes I think the MINI 1 is capable but I would say the MINI 2 would have been a better bet, but hey ho it is what it is and if thats the backup drone fine, I bet your not keen on putting the Air2s over that Lava ? regards TJK UK.

Sucks about the mini 3 pro, but if you get it up and running again (will DJI care refresh even cover volcano damage?) maybe you could rechristen it Icarus? Looking forward to some spectacular screen recording of the demise of the Mini 3 pro, or, if it survived, the in flight footage.

Great video again. Can’t agree more. I had the first gen Mini and took this a couple of years ago. I can’t believe I went backwards and down without sensors. But I did, and survived.
