Iceland volcano erupts for fifth time shooting lava 50m into air

A volcanic eruption has begun on the Reykjanes peninsula in south-western Iceland sending plumes of lava 50 metres into the air.

The eruptions occurred near Grindavik, the fishing town near the famous Blue Lagoon. The eruption was the fifth to occur on the peninsula since December. Most of the 4,000 residents of Grindavík were permanently evacuated in November.

Both of you it's very clear never did well in science. As if Iceland has control over its volcano and as if an constant immersion from every square inch of every large city going 24/7 365 for the past 120 years is equivalent to a 2 km, 3ft wide fissure that's, at worse, throwing out high sulfur dioxide which actually is a coolant to our weather when in the upper atmosphere. Yep. Totally the same as human greed to keep drilling baby instead of being smarter

Humans emit about 50-100 times as much CO2 each year as volcanoes do. This eruption is very small and completely negligible to global CO2. Try to get a clue before your next post.

@@agingrockchick money you get people to pay a green taxes, maybe a levy on gas and electric, higher fuel tax, make driving more expensive, holiday tax on flights. There are probably lots more taxes i'm missing but our governments are working very hard to stop this kind of thing by collecting money. A few more just stop oil protests and a speech from greta will probably help too.

@@nowhere474 this volcano erupts very 2000 years, I’m sure there’s been plenty of solar activity since then. A magma chamber that fills slowly doesn’t really have anything to do with the sun of all things, the moon/ the tide if anything has more impact
