Walking to Seljavallalaug pool in Iceland. The 25 meter outdoor pool is one of the oldest swimming pools in Iceland, built in 1923. It was the largest swimming pool in Iceland for some years. Björn J. Andrésson, member of the Eyfelling youth group, was the instigator for constructing the pool. It is located in Laugarárgil canyon in South Iceland. It has natural running water but take care, it can be slippery because of algea growth. There is no entrance fee but you are at your own risk. Alcohol, pets and littering is prohibited.

Such beautiful shots! I recently went here myself, but it looked a lot different being a different time of year. It was an incredible place for a swim, although a lot colder than I was expecting!

I agree it was somewhat cool last time I remember. And there was algae on the bottom.

I’ve always skipped this place on my past visits because so many people say it’s dirty and lukewarm. But after watching this, I think it’s worth going for the hike alone. Next time...

To be fair it can be dirty and lukewarm. It's only cleaned once a year and there can be algae growth on the bottom of the pool. But it feels natural to me. Feels nice!

I recognized "strictly banned" and dog ("hund") but couldn't quite read what was banned. Maybe no skinny dipping.

No dogs allowed but furthermore, what is written in red, no consumption of alcohol in or near the pool.

How warm is the water?

It's around 35° celsius.

@@IcelandHotSpots I visited Snorralaug and checked the temperature of the water. 140 degrees F. My thermometer is calibrated in Fahrenheit. Some children came with a dog and asked, "hvað heiti?" "hundrað fjortíú" I said (might not be correct, but that's what I answered). Their eyes became very big, thinking 140 Celsius.
