Bleach is basically a self discover story of Ichigo Kurosaki. It's about him learning of his origins and who he is, and each event/situation helps him to understand himself.

Ichigo, yusuke and gintoki the mcs that don’t strive for such a huge goal but wanting to protect their loved ones they were always my favorites.

I feel like saying Ichigo is HIM can be a title to one of Tite Kubo’s poem There is no lie, Ichigo is just HIM, he is THAT GUY.

My favorite thing Ichigo does is when he calls back to what the antagonist said before. Perfect example is Byakuya saying Ichigo getting close to him is a miracle. And then when Ichigo does it again he says “if miracles only happen once what do you call the second one” shit is so raw.

Bro... I've been an introverted Bleach fan for YEARS. WHY AM I JUST NOW REALIZING that Ichigo is the "best friend every introvert wants" !???? No wonder I've been simping for this man since the age of 12... Jokes aside, this was a great video. Thank you for sharing!

I love the way Kubo explored Ichigo's depressive phases that came about from not being able to accomplish his goals. It feels so human.

Ichigo is my favorite protagonist in all of Shonen. Ichigo along with Edward Eric and Tanjiro Kamado reminded me to be a responsible older brother again.

Probably one the many reasons why i like Ichigo so much is beacuse of his relatability, while characters like Naruto, Luffy and to some extent Goku do have moments that make them feel like people you could talk to. Ichigo in my personal opinion is the type of guy could both talk to and understand where he comes from, it makes him feel like a legit friend could talk to and be honest with. That and in that he is the goat.😁

Ichigo is extremely relatable. We just now learned his origin in anime form. He’s a late bloomer and doubted himself so much throughout the series, only to realize he can and does step up to the challenge. Like a damn man in the modern world today

1. This video is necessary. 2. You can really see how Gege takes a cup of Ichigo's motivations and a teaspoon of Luffy/Naruto's goofiness to make Yuji. Probably see even more of Ichigo in Megumi, maybe replace a half-cup of confidence/self-assuredness with stoicism.

There was something about Ichigo I couldn't quite find the words for that set him apart from other popular protags other than just "he's more serious," and you have f i n a l l y given me those words. His "prevention of a negative" motivation for the better part of the series is something that drew me in as I read Bleach for the first time next to the majority of other characters actively striving for a grand title, treasure, or revenge. It's a layer of relatability for those of us in real life that aren't working toward a great ambition and are mostly just looking to keep the things we currently have that make us happy. And this is just furthered by the fact that this motivation of his is essentially a chronic trauma response to the death of his mom. His character is one that stands apart from so many others, and works in the context of the series so well. That, and he's god damn g o a t e d.

I'm so glad we got Ichigo. A character who doesn't want to be president and searching for power only because it's needed not because he wants it. He's a passive character and it's fine

Ichigo is also very relatable because he suffers from heavy depressions throughout the series. Even when you think that he started to became happy after the Fullbring Arc, the destroyed city in his inner world which we saw when he got his new Zanpakutos showed us that he is still suffering. When you think about what happened in his life (his mother got killed right in front of him or when hundreds of Shinigamis got killed by the Quincies while he was trapped) it would be almost impossible to not develop a depression. It's no wonder that he fell in love with Orihime because she resembles his mother in terms of personality. I think that Orihime is the only one that can "heal" Ichigo's mental trauma.

Fantastic. This is why the Fullbring Arc always hit so hard for me. Unlike in the other arcs, he actually loses all his friends, finding them turned against him, with no hope for changing their minds back. It's truly one of his lowest points. It's so cool that the OTHER friends he made from Soul Society are the ones that help him out. They being him an uplift when he needs it most and he flips the script on Ginjos plan and shows the fullbringers why what they were doing was all twisted.

Bro, what you said about his motivations is exactly what I think and not hear many people say. His core motivation remains the same but THE POINT changes. 1st half of the manga, he wants to protect because he is afraid and has seen first hand the impact a loss can cause. But in Fullbring, after losing his powers, he realizes that he just doesn't have the obligation to protect, he just simply likes protecting people. That's a nuanced distinction. Going from regretting the "death" to cherishing the "life". Great video.

My favorite thing about Ichigo has been his eyes. His eyes alone tells so much about him. Kubo originally had big innocent eyes. The older and wiser he got the more his eyes became one of experience.

I like Ichigo even as a psychologist. He is relatable and feels emotionally realistic when he is dealing with his problems. He is very hard to push to the point of being really emotional, when he is basically broken down, and with these characters you feel even more how serious this trauma or situation is in reality. He doesn't win because he needs to, he has the will, a motivation and a goal. Other constantly push him, basically building his personality and powers on pillars that contain the influence of other characters, making them efficient in the story as well. Him feeling weakness is one of the things that make Ichigo more realistic

Whole fight with Ginjo just felt so much different than any of his previous fights, because in this fight he is willing to kill human being, to protect his loved ones.

Unlike many, the goal of Ichigo is inside him. Is not a title, a thing tied to the world, is the desire to strive, to protect, not matter where or how. He will do it, against rules and other people's wishes, and that make him a force to be reckoned with.

This is why Ichigo is one of my fav mcs. He is just some guy who doesn't really know where his life will go. He doesn't want to become Hokage or Pirate King or SOUL KING Idfk. This makes him a lot more real and relatable to me at least, he is still growing up and finding his way in life. The only thing that's certain about him is that he'll fight to protect the ones he love. I mean who wouldn't, right?

Considering he's a shonen protag he also has some of the coolest power ups ever.

I absolutely love the fact that he gets stronger the more he works on himself and accepts himself. It's such a refreshing way to have the MC grow stronger compared to the endless trainings of MCs I've seen so far. It's not like he's a slacker, he does train of course, but it's not the main source of his power

His hero complex is more than just a survivor guilt thing. He tried to save the lure who he thought was a little girl drowning because he was just built like that. And if you watched Everything But the Rain, you know he got it honest because Misaki has the same habit of blindly running into danger to save a stranger.

I used to bash the hell out of Ichigo’s character, and Bleach as a series, when I was a kid and my friends did as well. I grew up viewing Ichigo as an empty character with an aimless desire to protect. However, framing Ichigo’s goal within the motivation of *loss prevention* is as human as it gets. It reminds me of Anakin Skywalker, one of my all time favorite fictional characters, who turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader because he was an incredibly fearful person who had experienced crippling loss and wanted to prevent any potential future losses. After having finally finished my marathon of Bleach recently, I can comfortably put Ichigo in my Top 5 Shonen protagonists that I relate to the most on a deeply personal level. Especially, now that I’m an adult and not a child with a starkly black and white skewed view on life and its complexities. Plus, Ichigo is one of the coolest and most dripped out characters in Shonen and it has always been that way. Seriously, dude’s wardrobe is FLOODED and it’s not because he constantly has girls coming in and out of his room lol!

Ichigo definitely has more depth as an individual

I find it so amazing that since day1 till so many years , you can talk , analyze and discover so much about Bleach characters and see why it's different and the depth in the manga/anime

Ichigo is basically the kind of high schooler that you want to be when you are in high school. He's confident but not overconfident he's not popular but he has a cool close group of friends. He's also super self assured about himself and we do anything to protect his friends even before he had powers.

I have loved Ichigo from the beginning because he’s not going around screaming what he wants and has some actual intelligence to him. He doesn’t want to become ‘the top Shinigami Captain’ or the next soul king /captain commander to prove anything. He just wants to make sure his friends and family are alright and anyone who’s being a piece of crap to people he’ll say and do what he wants, even beat up an entire gang for some random guy because he’s being bullied because of his heritage.

Part of Ichi’s relatability is how he’s always “WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS???” to the plot and calling out Isshin’s BS!

Despite all the royal blood and spiritual pressure dwelling inside him, if Ichigo was left alone he'd definitely just spend his life chilling with his friends and finishing high school. And that's what makes him such a great character because he's a regular bystander who got dragged into shit he didn't even start but stood up to the plate just to end it.

Ichigo progression toward accepting yourself is just good, from sad inside and became good father figure, man can't hate that its like digimon somewhat people take it as pokemon copy. while ash just wanna win tournament, taichi doing his best to fix his life. it just relatable

Finally someone who understands Ichigo. I love Clyde and his content but Dangai Ichigo video was another example of someone thinking Ichigo is the latest Goku. As you said, Ichigo's primary struggle is INTERNAL. Ichigo goes within for power not without. A lot of people don't like that Ichigo was all powerful on chapter/episode 1 but that's the beauty of him as a character. He doesn't struggle against opponents, he struggles against the fear that he will lose to his insecurities that he won't be able to protect his loved ones and that they will die in front of him like his mother did.

You completely forgot about the most relatable part of Ichigo He's got SO MUCH DAMN DRIP. I mean come on, name me one anime character as stylish as Ichigo is in some of those OPs

Ichigo's development is excellent, both for him and for those around him, as we progress through Bleach's story we realize its small details and we even think "hey this protagonist couldn't evolve", when we get halfway through To begin with, we see a much more mature and open Ichigo than he was in soul society. Let's look at the case of Renji Abarai, their destiny was to confront each other but that friendship and rivalry was formed, also Uryu and Ichigo were forging more, more friendship is their best friend/right-hand man. But the turning point here is that Ichigo did grow as a person and opened up. At first he was the tough guy who had a good heart but a bad attitude, and when we reach the end of the series we see a more serene and much more serene Ichigo. closer than it was before. Whoever says that Ichigo has no evolution, would you please read the returned work?. So there have been a lot of misconceptions about Ichigo's character. Since it was revealed that Ichigo is a Quincy, I've seen some pretty horrendous shots. Most notably, the guy is the embodiment of plot armor because he has an "ever-important" "power source" in bleach. and when you look at this “analysis” at a surface level, you ignore the larger thematic picture. Ichigo's journey is about finding balance within himself and his power represents the inner chaos of his father, Quincy and Hollow of his mother. but what we see in Ichigo is that he unconsciously rejects his mother's parts of himself, constantly blaming himself for her passing, which is why he has this white knight complex, but always carrying this burden. He forgets something important: to protect others and save his loved ones, he has to save himself first and only after accepting all sides of who he is. let it really become strong. "Ichigo has no goals" is something I would say or think if I had never seen bleach, but somehow a lot of people who have read or watched the series have come to this conclusion without me being able to really understand why Ichigo's goals can Don't be so ambitious. Or demand that he obtain something in the conventional sense like Naruto and Luffy, but he clearly states in the first arc of the manga that he wants the strength to protect those around him, he wants to have the ability to prevent deaths like his mother's just because of his weakness. Now you don't have to like Ichigo's goal or even think it's that convincing, but saying he doesn't have one is low-IQ illiterate behavior. I LOVE ICHIGO PROTAGONIST

Ichigo is probably my favorite anime protag outside of Goku in the english dub of DBZ(he's VERY different in the japanese version). Ichigo has the cool factor that just attracts everyone else to him, but he isn't a dickhead to them. Like if Sasuke actually just chilled out for a second and returned a little bit of the positive energy his friends give him. Combine that with his fierce loyalty to those close to him...willing to fight and die for any of them, and that makes a great protagonist.

(except for the 1 that just happens to be red, which contains his Zanpakuto and Shinigami powers). he's been compared to Uryu specifically on a few occasions. etc. "characters make stupid decisions" they were at war, the Captain Commander had died like 3 days ago, Captain Kyoraku was desperate. give him a break. "yes i read all of Bleach" no tf you didn't. or at least, you were not paying attention. One thing I love about Ichigo is the stuff we don't get to see too often in the manga itself. Things like his love for chocolate and Shakespeare. So one thing I love is that he becomes a translator, just like my dream! He is interested in foreign language enough to do translation. That's really cool and I've never seen ANYONE do that in a manga. I love Ichigo so much.

This video makes me fall in love with Bleach again. You got pretty good points in there. I really like the fact Ichigo is subtle but can also be badass at the same time. I also don't care about the downsides of bleach because it will always be a childhood favorite.

First off would love to see more bleach videos! Second, one of my favorite lines and fights was Ichigo vs Dordonii when the hollow mask hype was at its highest 👌 Dordonii trying to goad Ichigo all fight to use it. Then when Ichigo finally concedes and warns him he can only use it for a second. Dordonii is instantly defeated and asks Ichigo what happened. Ichigo responds "I told you it would only be a second." Ichigoat 🐐

Ichigo as a character is much more interesting than most Shonen protagonist(s). There is a particular subtly to his character, and Kubo is *not* given nearly enough credit for his writing. Kubo does not spell everything out to you and has confidence in the ability of his audience to infer on particular aspects of the story, themes, and characters. Bleach is very consistent in its overall throughline, in almost every regard.

Ichigo didn’t need a big goal like pirate king or hokage to be great. He gained the respect of soul society and saved the world he was a soul king candidate anyway thanks to his massive sp.

Ichigo’s final flexes on each villain only hits as hard as it does because we spend each entire arc seeing just how powerful each villain really is. These antagonists absolutely body powerful supporting character after powerful supporting character. AS WELL as bodying Ichigo three or four times in the process. And then when it is time for the final showdown, Ichigo’s display of growth is so exponential in contrast to the main antagonist for that arc, that you just can’t help to be hype. Ichigo is the embodiment of, “I’m not competing against you, I’m competing against the me from yesterday,” idea. And it is honestly a bit inspiring.

The thing about Bleach apart from the Shinigami/Superpower part is it sets in a very realistic world, He's an actual highschool students who attends school, hangout with friends and stuff.If compared with to other big3 who dreamt big and climbing the highest position (Hokage/Pirate King) basically translate to wanting to be the President in this modern world. Most people don't do that IRL.

Reasons why I like Ichigo as a character. 1. NOT a simp. I despise simp characters 2. Masculine. Doesn’t act feminine and sets a good example for boys and stands his ground 2. Not very talkative.
