in ordering israel not to commit acts of genocide, the icj in effect upheld israel's right to self-defense provided the same would not amount to genocide .. in warning israel not to commit genocide (obviously referring to future acts) the icj likewise in effect did not agree with south africa's contention that israel was committing and/or has committed genocide .. but most importantly, in the interim ruling, the icj did not grant south africa's request (obviously on behalf of the evil terrorists hamas) for a ceasefire .. this is actually an interim victory for israel in the said icj case.
