I am glad I watched this video. I was looking at this radio because I thought the scope was more versatile. I like the idea of a live scope where you can listen to the center channel while it scans all around. This radio does not seem to do such a thing.

Using a whip antenna (say 27 inch), does the R20 give adequate reception of local MW stations, equal to say the R10? Thanks for this video and any additional info on this question.

IcomR8500R20 - the Icom R-20 does not scan in Band Scope mode. it receives the entire bandwidth with your settings. It DOES NOT scan......Band Scope is one Center Frequency but the Scope information is displayed wethin the Range you set.

How does this radio compare with the Commradio CR-1

IcomR8500R20 - 14 Frequency steps ? that seems a bit Strange........I have a Icom R-10 and it can adjust the Band Scope resolution from 1khz up to 1mhz in steps. does the R-20 have a zoom in/out function like the R-10 has ?

The videos are informative but very laboured. There's about 3 minutes of content here stretched to over 13 minutes with lots unnecessary repetition. Chances are the people who are interested in these devices aren't morons so I'm sure you could get to the point a little quicker without any problems.
