Thanks, I owned the IC-R30 for a few months. It would have been perfect accept like you said, the overload is crazy.

Can you reshoot, tuned to about 7.00 - 7.06MHz in CW mode, and then between 7.1 - 7.2 MHz LSB I dont listen to wideband AM very often

Yeah right, severe overload is a must on crappy $1000 radios

@@OfficialSWLchannel there is no other purpose for the rf-gain. To my knowledge. Sensitivity is worth keeping, for times when your desired station is just too far away for the cheaper radio gear to hear

RF Gain is not meant to be used all the time, only in extreme conditions, radios can be very sensitive and never overload, This receiver is poorly designed and overloads constantly in a Urban environment. You can't expect someone buying this to understand you always have to attenuate or use RF gain

@@OfficialSWLchannel Ever since upgrading my antenna Ive used rf gain on my kx3. But anyway, as the offending sounds are coming rhrough in gaps between speech the agc needs work. Its not adjustable is it, maybe a firmware update would help

It's a shame that Icom put their name on the IC-R30. One would do better buying separate HF and VHF/UHF receivers.
