FOR INSPIRATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY, DO NOT OWN ANY COPYRIGHT 2023. Born in Germany in 1965, comedian Martin Lawrence did stand-up for a number of years before getting his big break as the host of HBO's Def Comedy Jam. He then moved into film acting, appearing in hits such as Bad Boys and Big Momma's House. Lawrence also had his own sitcom, Martin, which ran on Fox in the 1990s. Shortly after moving to California, Lawrence got a guest spot on the television show What's Happening Now!! This appearance led to his big break in television as the host of HBO's groundbreaking Def Comedy Jam. Lawrence moved into the spotlight with the launch of the Fox sitcom Martin in 1992. Along with starring as disc jockey Martin Payne, Lawrence often appeared as other characters like Mama Payne and the outrageous neighbor Sheneneh Jenkins. Martin was a big hit for Fox, although the final season, which ended in spring 1997, was clouded by accusations of sexual harassment from co-star Tisha Campbell. Lawrence also parlayed his early successes into a movie career. After appearances in features like House Party (1990) and Boomerang (1992), he hit it big with a co-starring role alongside Will Smith in the buddy cop flick Bad Boys (1995). Five years later, the actor seized the opportunity to shine in Big Momma's House, with audiences responding favorably to his brand of crude but endearing comedy. Lawrence went on to reprise his roles in Bad Boys II (2003), Big Momma's House 2 (2006) and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011). In early 2020, he readied to rejoin Smith in Bad Boys for Life.

The different between Eddie murphy and Richard Pry or and today's comedic style is they did skits. And thats the same thing that made Jamie foxx so funny he could do imitations as well. Alot of these new comic can't or don't do imitations. They just talk about sex and relationships it still funny just different. Lightning in a bottle is a great analogy regarding the Martin Lawrence show! Their chemistry was second to none during that era. As entertaining as they were I wouldn't want to see them try and top their great delivery, tone, and success. Like he says it can't be duplicated especially without Tommie. That was the black eye for Redd Foxx's "Sandford and son".....They tried and failed miserably on the sequel because lightning doesn't strike twice in a bottle? Thanks Martin for the memories and most of all thank you for acknowledging your Creator because He gave you the ability in the first place; Salute and hand claps 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Martin Lawrence is a comedic genius and a true path maker in American pop and social culture. I can say this as a true observer of cinematic and televised media and as an illustrator and historian. His contribution to comedy and culture was and is still so profound it can not be denied. His work will stand the ages and humor the generations to pass (provided that there is still some sense of common openness of our foibles and honesty in the future). Martin was as real student of the game and earned his spot; learned from the greats then became one of 'em! His sitcom was one of the first times we saw a young black couple on TV going through life; funny how a lot of the things he went through during that time as "Gina's" boyfriend/husband, I would experience in the years to come as a young man. In a sense the show help to raise a lot of us by displaying how we should support our significant others while in a relationship. On the comedy side.. he was definitely a "physical" comedian but also very witty and fast wit it as we saw as a the host of Def Comedy Jam; bro is a real treasure and Legend and I'm glad I had the chance to witness his journey... from What's Happenin Now, to Do the Right Thing... on up til now. He's definitely different now, I noticed the change some years ago-- not sure if it came from the things he went through in his personal life.. plus I heard he had a stroke but I still miss the super energized Martin...but then again, he is a grand father now 😆-- I suppose we all have to slow down sometime. Either way, I'm still a die hard fan, there's only ONE Martin Lawrence, salute to the "OG" and comedy ICON! (30+ plus years!)

I can say as a grown ass man that this man single handedly had a part in helping me express myself for who I am as a man. A leader, father, outspoken truth teller, boxer, and unapologetic black man in Amerikkka. Nothing but respect for this man and his legacy. I have had the pleasure of meeting him ftf and dude is a true brotha. B1 and 2.

He said; You would “COME UP” n ur hair would lay right over ur right eye😂😂😂😂😂😂Mom I miss u…. God rest ur soul….🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Martin need to be celebrated where everyone can show and tell him THANK YOU! Everyday I looked forward to watching the Martin Show. The joy, laughter and different characters was hilarious. Many day when I had a bad day, I would watch his show and seem like everything was not that bad. A young black man with a good job, one girlfriend and two good friends. How do you thank someone who for years never knew the lives his was affecting. Me and my siblings would all which it together, so it keep the family closer. Even though it was comedy it had plots to every episode. I believe If anyone took a poll concerning what show mostly make you laugh in his era Martin would win. Thank God he survived the stroke. Hopefully some comedians or award show give him a celebration and his flowers 💐 while he is here. "You can't call nobody"🤣🙏
