Best ride is gonna be king remote with adjusters. Shouldn't have much body lean but 3" up front is gonna be hard on the cv axles over time so it would be a good idea to pair it with a 1" differential drop. Shock surplus has a video on sdi electronic adjustable coil-overs, which they can add onto any normal remote reservoirs. Adds about $2,500 but you can set them soft for slow trails then stiffen up on the highway from the driver seat. They also prevent bottoming out pretty well. Get a full rear leaf pack from either deaver or old man emu set up as the expedition pack for your added weight. Add a leafs and blocks are pretty bad once you load them up. Also spend the extra money and get the icon delta joint upper control arms. They're 100% worth it. If you don't go with shock surplus order from a company that can customize your coilovers. With a steel bumper and winch you will want to have a heavier spring rate than the out of the box ones or you won't get the lift height you want, or you'll have to crank the preload and ruin it anyway. They say 50,000 mile rebuild but I've got that much on some basic fox 2.0 ifp's until I can get the spendy setup and they're still like 85%-90% as good as they were new. If you don't want to ever rebuild bilstein 6112 or 8112 if they make them for your truck are good, but the ride quality won't be as nice. Rebuilds are typically required from high speed off road stuff. Highway and slow trails doesn't put a ton of strain on them so they last longer.

Another good overland setup is ARB/OME BP51 with internal bypass, external reservoir, and low-speed compression and rebound adjustment.

Definitely, and more often than not they often end up being our personal favorite option for our own rigs. They certainly are a little firm over smaller bumps and chatter at lower speeds, but we always like to say if your Icons feel too stiff you just arent driving fast enough LOL

Needing service by 50k sounds about right, Fox and especially King will require the same. These performance 2.5 shocks need service, their internals are made for a certain amount of heat cycles. If you want something super durable and dont require service, go with Bilstein 5100, Eibach 2.0, maybe Dobinsons - they claim very little service requirement

So if I went Eibach 2.0 coil over kit would icon arms be considered low maintenance as well and how longe do they last? Do you need a diff drop as well? Thanks

All parts fail. Performance parts need more maintenance to remain high performance. High end mods is pay to play or learn to DIY, then it's pay to buy tools lol. The only "long life" option is Bilstein. The eibachs may last as well, jury is still out there. That said, even bilsteins can fail on day one, and every shock has its limitations which is the responsibility of the operator to remain within.

If it's for sure the shock and not either the rear leafs (assuming it's a leaf sprung vehicle) or the sway bar, just buy some silicone spray lube, jack up the rear end to extend the shocks, wipe them down, then hit the shaft with the lube and cycle it a few times. Sounds like the seal sticking slightly. Suspension components creak over time so having a can to hit up the contact areas helps.

Thanks Mrskyentist for the info as well. Sometimes the top mount on the Icon shocks (if we're talking about a toyota platform here) dont get fastened right, check that too.

Yes its a 21 tacoma

The shop i went to applied grease idk where exactly, on the top part of the shock. The creaking has decreased about 98%

While we've loved our Icon setups on numerous vehicles, their CDCV setup is great, we would categorize those systems as a performance level shock that is meant to play at faster speeds. At lower speeds they may feel too sporty/firm for some, but being adjustable with the CDCV under a loaded vehicle with all that gear, it should be pretty comfortable (it was for us on our Tacoma with 600lb constant load). THe MRR will typically be more comfortable all around, has a lot more adjustment to fine tune the ride. The rebound adjustment on the MRR really makes a huge difference in ride quality and comfort, so that cant be overstated enough. Rebound, in some of our opinion's here, is the game changer for ride quality. Dobinsons typically last a bit longer than Icon in terms of needing service. We've heard the same thing as well, but dont actually see it in the real world. Stuff like that goes through us before it goes to Icon for repair, and we rarely have those issues - and when they do arise, Icon usually handles it quickly. Depending on how much high speed performance you're after, there's still quite a few really good options - SDI EClik, OME BP51, Dobinsons MRR, Kings of course. SDI is probably the best there is honestly, newest option, but electronic ride control front to back, for only a little more than a Fox 2.5 Performance Elite setup. The Fox Performance Elite aren't available yet for the 4Runner, waiting on Fox for those and they haven't released any information or part numbers yet. They're having a hard enough time filling orders on the Tacoma, Bronco, and Silverado platforms - so they're quite behind.

Icons really are the original "Pre-Lander" shock so they go digressive largely to be better on vehicles with a little bit more constant load. Often times with a linear shock you have to run way stiffer springs or simply valve it a lot stiffer over to get the same stability under a load since they usually lack the low speed compression to really stabilize a lot of extra weight. The digressive valving is more a concession they make to be able to be paired lighter spring rates so they can still ride decent on stock weight vehicles while still being stable and supportive enough on vehicles that might have some additional constant load.

That HOSS 3.0 already comes with a good set of internal bypass Fox shocks so I would definitely stick to options that are also position sensitive like the Fox 3.0 Factory Race Series, or electronically controlled like Icons CDEV or a set or another brands 2.5 external reservoir coilovers with an SDI E Click upgrade.

Are they 2.5s. If so you can invest some time in researching minimal tools and do it yourself. You could even play with shim stacks to soften or slow shock down depending on how you think they feel now.

@@evanmiller1642 well I was able to adjust my shocks but I did have to heat and bend the spanner tool I was sent a few times. Got it done though before our trip from Georgia to Louisiana. Ended well.

@Mr.Higginbotham What? The collars are that tight with the weight off the axle? Usually ive had good luck just turning the entire coil to adjust collar ounce jamb collar is loose. How much preload was on them ? The distance the collar is down ounce the spring quits shaking

Icon are great, but probably overkill if you're not concerned with dirt performance and more spirited driving offroad. The stage 3 kit nice, super solid, definitely aimed at performance so i hope you're running around the dirt pretty fast, or want great handling on the trails. Yes they would, they offer various stages.

Icon does not list specific valving specs like Bilstein does, but that does have what they call their HDRV valving so at the very least it should be similar to the Bilstein. With that said that 7100 is user revalvable so I would probably spend the time tuning it stiffer than buying shocks that might not have the valving you are looking for.

And the did you did with King, Icon and the other top of the line of the lines.

Fox 2.0 would be softer than the Bilstein, but not sure they offer for the Sequoia.
