A ski lift-like Alta's Wildcat, Aspen's Deep Temerity, Helbronner's Skyway, or Squaw's KT-22-is more than metal and mechanics. They're manmade constructs that lead us to nirvana, influencing our decisions and allowing us to feel connected.

One of the best places to ski during a storm. Some really great terrain for fresh tracks if you know where to ski. Let others wait in line at Collins while you make laps on Wildcat.

1 of the best days of my life was spent riding that lift over & over & over as it dumped more all day. Started out with 2' fresh pow in the am, ate an always amazing meal at Goldminer's Daughter & we were 1st in line. Been there many times but never with a day/week like we had...Epic snow every day. This 1 particular day it was so beautiful, each run was fresh tracks & we spent the whole day riding Wildcat. Thanks Alta...God Bless Utah! I have been fortunate enough to also ride KT-22 at Squaw Valley, been there a couple of times. It's a lot better than Michigan. lol. Although we do have Mt. Bohemia in the UP which is as close to being out west as you can get without being out west. Shhhhhhhhhhhhh tho, it's still a hidden gem for the most part.

Just curious, how do you think Boho compares to the mountains out west? Would it be a below average mt. if it was in CO or UT?

@@alexconrad2904 That is a good question...Tough to answer. I've been trying to figure the best way to reply for last 15 minutes. Out west the major resorts have more area with more extremes & variety, however Mt. Bohemia has qualities & similar steeps to out west, other than some of your more popular resorts. Like Jackson Hole, that mountain is extreme from top to bottom & left to right, if you're not a high level intermediate at least, don't go there cuz it won't be enjoyable...JH is the most extreme riding you'll get inbounds in N. America. Mt. Boho also doesn't compare to say Squaw Valley, Kirkwood, Whistler etc., but I would rather go to Mt. Boho than most other smaller resorts out west. For that matter, although I have very little knowledge of out east skiing, the little I do know, I'd stay here & ride Mt. Boho than go to 75% of resorts on the east coast. Bottom line is...Mt. Boho is a really amazing resort for the Midwest region & you're better off riding there than anywhere else you can drive to in the same amount of time. Hope that helps...lol

Rode that chair. Great views, great steeps, great vibe. Also, the chair is oddly silent

Wildcat chair serves great terrain. The best thing is that it's open late so when Supreme closes you still have an hour of awesome terrain to ski from the bottom.

There used to be bars on the Wildcat chairlift. My first time at Alta I asked if my chairmate if we could put the bar down. He went into a screed about how unnecessary they were, only good for hitting you in the head, did I fall out of my kitchen chair at home, we skied here without them for 35 years, the whole gamut. He was a ski patroller. So, I feel responsible for the fact there are no bars on the lift now. Enjoy your ride up!

i was a lifty part of 81 season, living at the buckhorn (yikes). wildcat was my favorite lift to work not so much the terrain access but because of Joe Okamura who managed that chair.. very cool and nice guy. on power days - first chairs before we opened for the day we would go up to top of wildcat, ski the bowl, get back on the lift halfway up. repeat. if i was young and pre college again i wouldn't hesitate to spend at least one winter at a good resort. whistler maybe.. btw i never saw joints up there - certainly wasn't a coffee can at the midway hut.. even though the town of alta was (is?) very relaxed about what you could get away with

If a grandmother can learn to ride a snowboard you can learn to ski if you really want to experience Alta.

You may use the slopes, but not the lifts, if you're on a board.

The best part of Alta is that all the little brats with snowboards can't get in to ruin everything. Put down the stupid board, get a pair of skis, and find out what all the skiers know. Alta is the best resort in Utah, hands down.
