The cinematography in Ida is absolutely magnificent. It's so disquieting, yet resilient. I also love how it captures these "moments" in still frames. Amazing, amazing.

Well, this movie is not Polish. The director of this movie is jewish and also an actress playing the main character. The real life Ida was a Jewish Communist and Stalinist prosecutor who has sent a lot of Poles who opposed communist regime to die

I was searching for a great B&W movie. Luckily I found this lovely one. - Great storytelling - Beautiful B&W - Mostly no moving camera - sweet positioning - Close ups with tight focus on the person by open aperture - total views fully focused with a closer aperture - Relatively few texts, but always good story - Nice sound and silence - Wonderful lighting

My prof had us watched this and all i can say is this is absolutely a very moving movie. Some of my classmates got bored and was already sleeping but idk why i was never bored and was actually entertained.

This is bad trailer. The movie is not kind of this thing. The silence and space is the beauty of this movie. but this trailer uses loud background music... represents dramatic mood....

It is Realy sad how the trailer(as is the case with many more) has to be loud and sentimental to sell the movie while giving away some of the best shots and dramatic points of an otherwise unsentimental , quiet , sad and overall a gem of a movie.

Just watched the Artificial Eye bluray and I can't think of any cinematography more exquisite than this. The composition of every frame throughout is insane. And what I love is that, although the story and the characters are of foremost importance, the director obviously WANTS you to notice the sheer marvel of it visually. Given the subject matter, is the composition even perhaps TOO perfect?? I would say I'm glad of it. I challenge anyone to find any film as CONSISTENTLY beautiful throughout as this. It's obsessively beautiful. And no...I don't think Tarkovsky quite matches it. Anyone else?

Film tak bardzo tendencyjnie pokazujący Polskę i jej rzeczywistość.Owszem socjalizm , szarość , ale tu niesłychane przegięcie - brzydota, dziwni bohaterowie, nieprawdziwe sytuacje.Jednym słowem pokazanie Polski ,jak jakiegoś zaścianka ... Bardzo niesprawiedliwe , nieuczciwe .

Well worth your time, if you're a fan of cinema and the human heart. I'll be keeping my eye on this director now. For context, I'm a huge fan of Kieslowski, Wajda, and those early films by Polanski.

It´s not a song, its a musical piece. I am not 100% sure but i think its was made by the people who worked in the movie. I mean, its not from Mozart or Beethoven, they just created it by themselves. The bad thing is that you cant find it, i dont know if theres a link or something but its not there, I tried to look for it but it is not anywhere

The movie is absoloteling touching. Also for me, who has jewish family members on mye fathrs side. But you have also to consider the feelings of the polish people during the coexistence of Jews an Poles in Poland.

The story is unrealistic and very predictable. After the first 10 minutes you know everything that's going to happen in the next 66 minutes. There's too many hints. Also, it's a short movie, as if the producers were on a very tight budget. I would have preferred a longer version, with more scenes at the nunnery to help us understand the religious motivation. There's quite a bit of good acting, but not so much by Agata Trzebuchowska, the lead actress. But she probably gets away with it because she's so cute and so beautiful. The cinematography is superb though.

Director Pawlikowski is more interested in making money than sharing polish culture. Ida was seen in Poland only by 120 000 people. IDA MADE ITS MONEY till Oscars. Why Pawlikowski didnt enabled it free on KZfaq when the film is on the decline?

Czy w Polce ktoś może zrobić normalny film? Nie o żydach i o wojnie? Ja jestem urodzony po wojnie. Chuj mnie obchodzą wspominki kombatantów. Jeśli polskie filmy są tak dobre to dlaczego nie upublicznia się na youtubie takich filmów jak Ziemia Obiecana, Popiół I Diament czy Sexmisja? Bo co? Bo prawa autorskie? Myślicie, że zrobicie jeszcze jakąś kasę na filmach które dawno leżą na półce? Wstyd. Nie umiemy promować Polski. Nie umiemy się cenić. Za to Żydzi i Murzyni doskonale wiedzą jak grać niewiniątka skrzywdzone przez antysemitizm i rasim. Wciskajmy naszą Polskę gdzie się da. Ameryka wciska się wszędzie. I jak Amerykanin zapyta dlaczego on ma oglądać polski film, odpowiedzcie mu że dlatego że my wpierdalamy amerykańskie hamburgery. Zobaczcie jak mądrze zrobiony z filmem "Mała Moskwa" Jest cały na youtubie. Ten film był też nagrodzony. Zrobił swoje pięniądze i teraz promuję polsko -rosyjską produkcję. Bravo.

Miałem okazję to oglądać zanim było uhonorowane i oceniałem to jako ciężką, pseudoartystyczną szmirę z marnym clue przez która nie mogłem przebrnąć bez ziewania. Na uwagę z pewnością zasługuja zdjęcia ale to wszystko na temat tego oskarowego "dzieła". Oskara dostał jedynie słuszny politycznie temat - Żydzi

Absolwent PWSFTv i T im. Leona Schillera w Łodzi więc możesz już swój buracki, niemerytoryczny słowotok skierować tam gdzie jego miejsce czyli do kanalizy która masz w swoim kibucu. Weles Masz rację beznadziejny scenariusz, dłużyzny, słaba gra aktorów a przede wszystkim sfałszowana historia na temat Polaków. 6 mln zł z naszych podatków poszło na tak tandetny film. Pawlikowski słaby człowiek i słaby reżyser.
