Bicycle touring is the journey mostly and not the destination. That was the way it always was for me anyway. All my touring was over the road. Naomi has a way of making trail touring and cycling look like great fun. Certainly it must be.

the tension already is building oh my!!! drama and heroes in the first episode. I am really into this Naomi character in this show. the writing is excellent for these things. The mind streaming of thoughts is genius.

@@HumanontheLoose The name came from me and my son going out to a local hiking trail where you can hand feed the squirrels. And birds. Easternbushytail is what you call gray squirrels here. He was so little at the time and always wanted to go feed the squirrels, I asked him what I should name the channel and he said squirrel man.. ... we decided on Easternbushytail. It was supposed to be uploaded with outdoor videos and such but never evolved.

Wow! First day out and trail angels find you in the back-country, to return your sunglasses. Sunglasses when not on the face... they're in the case.You're truly blessed to be on this journey. Amazing humanity, beautiful vistas makes for a great start. I can't wait for the next video. It broke my heart to see you so upset about the bike shop encounter in your last video. Things can be very stressful in the days leading up to a big trip. I'm happy to see a positive, and happy bike packer. Your authenticity, and emotions is one reason why so many love your content.BTW Love Charlie! although squirrels are terrible decision makers..

Yay! I can't believe I've missed 3 vids. I just rang your bell so you don't sneak anything past me. I didn't like that you were not feeling well. I was riding with a friend last week, which was unusual most of my rides are solo. We didn't even go that far maybe 15 miles when my neck started hurting me so much I had to stop several times. When I stopped, I would get very dizzy and feel like I was going to pass out. Finally, my friend told me to lay down or he was calling an ambulance. He called his wife to come pick me up and they put my bike in the back of their SUV. I don't know what I would do if that happened on some of the really remote rides that I do. So, make sure you eat and drink frequently. You're burning about 500 cals per hour. Sorry to make this comment all about me, but I eventually made it back to you. Savor the attitude of gratitude about that couple. That was awesome. Thanks for the great views. I can't wait for your moments of WEEEEEEE! Power to the Pedal People!

@@HumanontheLoose Haha! This is the third time I am attempting this response. I keep losing my reply. RE: neck pain - I have a long list of pains in my neck! The economy, politics, Charles Schwab, the price of bitcoin, a leak in my tire that I can't find... But, the pain that you are talking about has been recurring. I think mostly due to riding on the drops and cranking my head up on bumpy roads. I go to a chiropractor and have it adjusted often and I went the day before. That might have contributed. This time is was spasming. The dizziness was not drinking and eating enough. Usually, I eat one meal a day (OMAD) unless I'm cycling. I spent the night at my friend's house and was out of my routine. I didn't eat anything prior and I was expecting a slower pace with a lot of conversation. He surprised me. Then, it was HOT. 95* and 96% humidity in Tampa. I went thru a lot of fluids and didn't pack any Blueberry Larabars nor electrolytes. And only 1 water bottle. I've experienced this before during long rides especially in the summer. I usually eat 300-500 cals per hour and drink 32oz with Propel electrolyte powder. Sorry for the vociferousness. When my kids were little, they would say, "Dad, just the short answer!" 😄

But I don't have a frame bag only because my diamondback Atroz 2 doesn't support a frame bag But it is a full suspension mountain bike 27.5 tires front and back 120 mm front and back crush course inserts Max's minion dhf exo tr front tire And the back tire is a dhr2 maximinian EXO TR they were supposed to be the 2.4 tires that I ordered but they came in at 2.3 but since I ordered them off of Amazon and I needed the tire so I kept them and used them after breaking my finger they're still staying on only because of the crush course which was a pain in the ass to put in but I don't get flats so easily when I hit the rims

As soon as I saw the "beautiful green" in the low stagnant river I immediately thought of (cyanobacteria) or "toxic blue green algae". Look it up so you know about it. That said, I'm so glad you're up and rolling! 💪👍 😎

From your last video, I got the esbit. I used it last weekend on a solo overnight ride. So far I boiled 2 cups of water on day 1 and then boiled 2 1/2 cups. I put a stick in it and it's still holding up well. Lightweight and really does the trick. Nice adventure. Great scenery and even greater people (returning the rokas)

Beautiful green grass in a desert setting. The sand dune with the stone Crest right behind is an enigma 6:35. Not sure what causes that.Trail magic has brought your sunglasses home!

I am using a dropper post but regardless - I used a seat bag on my last season bikepacking trip and as those who saw it witnessed - I didn't like using one. So, I was trying something new this trip and LOVE the concept!
