I'm not a tenkara fisherman and I don't know any tenkara flies but maybe a fly that imitates a specific insect?

@@aaronmiller6118 I think the main point of tenkara flies is not to imitate real bugs and rather just be suggestive.

My criteria for flies are a) quick and easy to tie and b) catch fish. This fits the mold for sure. Thanks for continuous inspiration and tutorials, Tristan!

Nicely done! I've watched some of your vids where the ID-KK worked well for you. One thing I learned many yrs ago that really helps secure the hackle... instead of stripping the rachis, cut the barbules making nubs for the same length as you would strip. It takes an extra sec or two but really gives the tying silk something extra to grip the feather.

I use just a little bit of raw bee's wax on my thread to increase it's hold on the hackle when I tie it in. when I am finishing tying in a hackle to tying off a hackle I put a wrap in front of the feather alternating with the thread around the hackle, this helps to keep the feather from slipping through the tie off point and unraveling. If you want to pick up a few tips on tying technique, The Feather Bender (Barry Ord Clarke) does a great job of teaching while demonstrating Fly Tying.

@@flytyingyarndotcom9298 Thick yarn body makes it more difficult to wrap a hackle. Maybe I haven't practiced tying hackled wet flies enough. I mostly tie nymphs. I also tied Ishigaki and Sakasa that day and this was really easy.

@@yauck1 yeah of course due to climate and growing environments different bugs , and plants will grow . Different fish will like different flys and in different areas . I was just saying that in tenkara it doesn’t really matter as much as regular American fly fishing . Masters in Japan tend to just use whatever. All they do is show that it’s food and it works ! But yeah maybe that video would be cool
