I love this , I watch so many sewing videos but I'm very rubbish at sewing and all my stuff falls to bits I thinks it's because I have no machine so stitching never holds for very long 😔 but I think I might be able to pull this one off 🥰 Thank you. ☮️❤️🇬🇧

Hiya, April. You mentioned that your handsewn stuff falls to bits. Have you seen Bernadette Banner’s videos? She makes and wears as everyday clothes Victorian & Edwardian designs, and she sews a lot by hand. (She’s not the only one, but these are designs even more complex than most modern clothes. She has some videos just on mastering stitches and seams. I found those really useful, especially about “felled” seams, which are really strong.

Hi 🖐@@eh1702 I think I have seen the lady you mentioned Bernadette, does she live in NY in a massive sky scrapper ? I shall go back and look again. Thanks for the heads up. Last week I attempted to make some 'shapewear' underpants....twas folly....I stitched the leg holes so tight they popped as I thrust my legs in ! I added a lace trim to hide my lumpy seams... after I calmed down because I had spent about 9 hours sewing on those pants, my mother who is not normally known for her diplomacy could see how upset I was about my useless pants she kindly reassured me that maybe pants was a difficult project to start off with and I should try something easier maybe just a plain round neck blouse made in just two pieces sewn together or even a pair of pillowcases ! 🤭🤭🤭.

@@ajalvin2012 Yep, that’s her. I always had two left hands, but I’ve reached a stage in life where I want to really give it a go. A lot of the people teaching hand sewing are costumers, history-reenacters and also some who are involved in couture tailoring. A number of fabric and craft companies who have made videos. There’s a lot to pick from. I like Bernadette Banner’s videos because she really wears what she sews, those are her daily clothes, so she knows what holds up. Couture people for the same reason.
