Awesome project! Great location....I'm in Hawaii doing the same thing. 100% 0ffgrid on jungle land I cleared by hand. Water from the sky and electricity from the sun and planting fruit trees and veggies.I'm building a dome. foundation and blocks are being made now....just me. Your family vids were an inspiration! I may start a vlog soon...

I'm so happy for you guys on your land. The rainbow, the old saying goes you're supposed to dig at the end of the rainbow, if you can see it, so did you guys dig there yet, if not I would go do it now an use a metal detector. You mentioned the river near you, if you didn't know this there is gold in the rivers and most people don't know about it and when you do find it, don't tell anyone about it. Don't worry about the water. You got natural springs all around you so just go tap in one of them springs that is closest to your house and you might find that you probably can make an artesian well and water will be coming out of there really fast, So be ready and make sure you have a pipe system set up with a shut off valve where you can stop it but have it flowing out wide open before you seal your pipe into the Earth. Then hook I to it and again don't tell anyone. Love your videos buddy and Mrs Honey do. Your boys are going to love living out there, get some gold. It's waiting for you and your family to find it. Share a smile an love, it helps others who need to see what true happiness looks like. An don't forget about the gold. It's there for your family. God loves us all.

I bought an old Case 580K backhoe for $12k. We bought 50 acres in Arizona. If I had to do it over again, I would’ve rented one for a month. Parts at the dealer are so expensive. When ordering parts online is just long delays which sets you back. Nice property! Happy for you!

I had that same backhoe nothing but issues lol. Spent 20k and got a John Deere and have loved it. So handy for doing stuff around the homestead. The nice thing is they always hold their value if they still run.

I would consider finding one of those natural springs and driving a well point down into it that should be a great water source ,if it's good water and everything goes just right you should have a nice flowing well !!

I would suggest composting toilets. I've been looking at Envirolet. Then a whole house greywater system for everything else. If you're building yourself you could plan your piping for a greywater system. You may also want to an earth-bermed home. When building you may want to use basalt rebar as it won't deteriorate. A rain barrel to collect water would be good. As you're building you may want to put in a greenhouse like the one developed by a man in Nebraska. He developed a system and the video is called Citrus in the Snow. I like what he did for his heat pump. I would love to be able to do all of this but I'm too old and too poor.

I’d consider a Certified Permaculture designer. I know 2 of them. One in California, Eric Seider and another in North Carolina, William Bond. Both were trained by Geoff Lawton in Australia, probably the premier Permaculture designers in the world. I know you’re also familiar with Paul Wheaton in Montana. For that property, earthworks are critical for water, erosion control and depending upon your plans, gardens, food forests, livestock etc. Eric has a KZfaq channel called: ‘Eric Seider’. William Bond is Billy Bond’s son at Perma-Pastures Farm which is their KZfaq channel. Mention that I sent you.

Look into vermicomposting toilets. Uses a biofilter and worms to clean everything up. Cheaper and more effective than a traditional septic. Those worms will love being housed in aircrete for insulation.

Will be following your aircrete home construction. We're shopping land now. Then will use square concrete culvert and aircrete for an earth sheltered SantaFe style home, with food production from an attached, walapini inspired greenhouse similar to Russ Finches greenhouse in the snow. Geothermal HVAC, solar and microhydro power from the vortex generator. Should give us 50x more power than we can use. Plan is to grid tie and use Tesla's distributive utility software to 'sell' excess or coop with neighbors to supply their power at a huge savings to them. Also use G.Scott Davis' black boxes for hot water and thermal mass water based heat... and store water in bulk for droughts and firefighting. I wish us luck my friend.

I like building where the rainbow lands but if you are going to cut a road down there, I would put the shop down there too. I'm going to have less than 100' door to door from my house to shop but when it's 116°, that commute might seem pretty far. You might not get 116° but if you get 95° and 1,000' you might not enjoy the walk and going back and forth could eat a lot of time.

I know that you don't have any billing laws in that area but detectors I'd like to protect your waterline if you'll make a wireline from those it's like A-war line from those whale houses you have to tag it from future development to to do that you would have to put him in the ground 6' are outside yeah 6' off the roadside To protect the war lines coming to your house I will see about putting a well in Put your shop garage in how it's bright and house uphill from the pawns and and put your yeah put your sected waste and Gray water in the Gray water into the garden and accepted going into a marshland above the 1st pond on and then have it run down to the 2nd pond that will thoroughly clean The water

I love it. Along the lines of permacultures, put in swales to catch the gentle runoffs from the highland above. Charge the ground water and hopefully you will have plenty to pump from at the lower elevation. Look up the video title on KZfaq "Geoff Lawton Arizona Transformed with Swales"

You did make sure you have water rights for your ponds, and springs, didn’t you. Frequently disused ponds are abandoned because they didn’t have water rights. Are you sure the flat spots aren’t remnants of slip lenses? It appears to me that the water you have may be getting recharged from the irrigated land above you.. and will disappear a year after they quit irrigating. You probably won’t be able to run a water line along the existing trail. You willl probably need to go from the well tank, around the road, which you can get an easement for. The owner of the adjacent property may not be willing to give you an easement to cross their property, mostly because it would greatly limit their future options in developing the property.

What are “slip lenses”? I did a search & I came up empty.
@randallthomas5207
@randallthomas5207 2 жыл бұрын
@@bahbee5659 I tried to send you a diagram last night. Apparently, KZfaq won’t let me do that. Certain soils when on a incline will have what geotechnical engineers call a slip or lens failure. The saturated soils in the spring when the soil is saturated from the snow melt become unstable, at the slope they are on, and will fail in a round bottomed lens, and the top drops, as the bottom rises. This results in an apparent flat spot. You need to be extremely careful adding loads on top of the soils because the increased load make the lens failure more likely. This is a problem on a lot of Idaho, they occur frequently around Horseshoe Bend, Whitebird Grade, and all the way up through the panhandle on the soils that aren’t closely underlaid by rock.
@Downeastwaves
@Downeastwaves 2 жыл бұрын
@@randallthomas5207 thanks for the explanation. We live in Maine where you can get water easily. When we visited out west we were surprised to learn folks don't automatically own water rights and drilled wells aren't as common as here.
@bruceh4833
@bruceh4833 2 жыл бұрын
@@Downeastwaves The 11 western States don't have any water problems, only political/religious/educational problems that cause water problems. Trees have become the enemy in the corporate western mindset; the wasters of water versus the bringers of water. Capitalism always has the goal of monopoly.
