IDF Says Operational Plans for Rafah Are Complete, Awaiting Final Nod | Firstpost America
The Israeli Defense forces say they are awaiting a final confirmation from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to undertake a ground offensive in Gaza’s southernmost city Rafah. Meanwhile, Egypt has raised concerns that an operation in Rafah would force thousands of Palestinians into Egypt. Israel believes that Rafah is the last bastion of Hamas. However, Hamas officials say that they will not surrender or stop their attacks on Israel until Palestine including Gaza and West Bank becomes a separate state from Israel. Over one and a half million Palestinians are being forced to take refuge in Rafah after being displaced internally due to Israeli bombardment.
