Those type of highway entrances and exits are stupid anyway. Im 60, never had an accident or ticket, drove a million miles in a semi hauling fuel, and I've done exactly the same thing. Luckily nobody was around and I was in my car and just whipped it a yooee and corrected myself.

Falling asleep at the wheel is considered negligence. If you're tired, you are not safe to operate a motor vehicle. There was no mention of a medical emergency.

So to the one who asked if they were the idiot (1:30-1:45ish): You were and you weren't. You should have seen the disabled vehicle and the cars going around it and at least slowed down. At the same time, they also should have been more attentive.

If we're gonna go by the law, you ALWAYS have to yield to oncoming traffic to leave your lane of travel for any reason. So the oncoming cars were in the wrong. But yes, to be a reasonable driver, I'd slow down to well under 20 as soon as I saw it and give them time to pass.

Im a truck driver, but I do not agree with the driver around 06:30 , you should not overtake another truck in a construction zone because it gets narrow there. Don’t risk damages or worse just for a 5 minute difference in ur journey

I think modern cars are really terribly built and its because of plastic shells rather than metal shells like the ones made in the 60s-80s. A soft hit will damage a car these days and yet they all cost over 50k? Wild.

@@LethalByChoice We don't because plastic is safer as far as crumple zone physics is concerned. In a crash you *want* the compartments to yield and absorb the force, not withstand it. A car fully of metal would not only be terrible for fuel consumption but also turn the car into a battering ram, becoming much more deadly to both the passengers of the car (the passenger area would become the crumple zone) and a complete road hazard to *other* vehicles. It isn't terribly built because it falls a part, it's a crash. What do you expect to happen?

If the driver at 6:36 had turned from left lane to left lane like you are legally required to, neither the red light runner nor the gray car would have been a danger to him. (Obviously I'm not trying to let the red light runner off the hook.)

Many states allow you to choose any legal lane when completing a left turn. It seems silly, but that's the way it is.

I always assume that is a requirement and only when an immediate right turn taunts me do I vulture neck around and decide if I can punch it over and flip the runner causing him to be ejected and run over by a dump truck while the truck continues on through a bus stop, an elementary school, and an old folks home. Or just sit there deciding whether to shit or go blind.

@M Bryson Weird. In most states, you're supposed to keep in your lane through an intersection. That means a left turning vehicle must turn into the left most lane. Not sure which state doesn't have this law.

@@AuraTale Page 23 of the English California Drivers Handbook, example 1 clearly shows that the driver can legally take either lane, but it also states that to reduce the risk of collision, end the turn in the lane closest to the middle of the intersection. Turning left down a one way simply states you can take any lane that is open. However for the basic description of a left hand turn on page 21 it tells you to take the left lane closest to the center and not cross any solid lines. Laws and insurance don't always follow the same argument, this is obviously on the red truck for blowing the red and it is only happenstance that the truck was in that lane, he could have very easily been in whicher lane the cammer chose. Any landing you can walk away from.

6:40 If you had turned left into the left lane like you were supposed to then the grey Audi would not be a concern because he could turn into the right lane at the same time, but since you used 3 lanes to make your left hand turn you almost got hit by a light runner and were too worried about the Audi to know what was going on around you. Turn into the near lanes not all the way across the road.

7:02 Most states the green audi is allowed to also go if no turn on red sign is not present. Turning into the left lane from a left turn is legal, but turning into the right lane from a left turn is not legal. In the State of California it is though. Same goes for right turns, stay in your lane while turning. If people took driving school I'm pretty sure they would know that.

I’ve driven the wrong way only once before & it was so so so embarrassing. I intended to make a left-hand turn out of a longhorn parking lot. It was completely dark out & from the turn, you couldn’t see the median at all. So, I pulled out & very quickly noticed the median, swerved to avoid running into it, and realized I was now driving on the wrong side of the road. Thankfully, the road was empty & I quickly drove up to the stoplight & got to the correct side of the road. I was still a fairly new driver & ever since then, I’ve been a LOT more careful at night with turns like that… never again 😭😭

6:16 FINALLY, someone chooses to make a bad driver a part of their bad decision. It's so infuriating to see someone hit a curb or barrier because another person squeezed them, and they get to drive off freely because the cammer was too afraid to make contact. If they put you in a dangerous situation, try and avoid it up until the point it can't be avoided anymore. 7:44 They weren't 'trying', they did come into your lane. Heart attack justified lol

I mean that literally happened to me, I was forced into a curb by a car that lane changed into me but didn't hit me. I have a dashcam though, the verdict was immediately that they were held at fault and my car has no body damage, just rashed wheels which are getting replaced at her cost, as well as my hubs getting checked over fully and an alignment. That's a win win, I say.

That's exactly what happened, the text is very "It's not me, it's you!". Unless she tried to merge back into the lane and we just don't see it, the truck driver is just as at fault for misjudging the amount of room to proceed as the lady was for not merging into the turn lane completely. That would have been a 50/50 fault claim if the lady didn't lie about it.

I don’t see anything the car did wrong. That video would be great evidence to prove the truck hit a stopped car in the left turn lane right where it was supposed to be. Trucker says “they drove away and claimed I wouldn’t give them information.” I hear “ I wanted to give a 30 minute lecture about why the car was at fault before I gave them my information and they didn’t want to listen to it.” So they didn’t and just went to the police instead.

It always amazes me when cam driver sees some crazy stuff going down, and they decide to follow the craziness closely. I see someone driving crazy, or road rage happening, I'm letting that get far ahead of me, or I'm finding an alternate route.

1:02 I’m not surprised to see this intersection here. I used to ride the bus to school via that way everyday. It’s still a b*tch to deal with years later. Doesn’t help that the road is a major road leading to the airport that goes from 2 lanes one way to 1 lane one way.

Yeah that was for sure his fault He was following to closely in a truck in the rain. Didn't seem to try and stop at all even though she had her signal on which means shes gonna stop probably very soon.

Word of advice from a retired driver (lay off the horn) tap it, please don't lay into it; why you ask to get proper direction from where it comes from taps in succession is just fine can get a better idea which direction it is coming from generally you always look forward left to right first before looking back, so taps are much better to judge the direction

This is true, but at least in California, if there is no one faster than you coming up from behind, you can park there all day long. I mean some states, the drivers are so daft that in the city, they have to put signs up that tell the drivers it's OK to use the passing lane during rush hour traffic. I was scratching my head on that one. (New Mexico on that one) So let me understand right, It seems to me the only logical thing to do in those weird passing states, is to put the pedal to the metal and always be passing. Or not.

Meh most of these clips come at or near junctions so every lane is just a directional lane you have to follow to go straight/turn. Two lanes instead of 3 except on highways would already reduce the number of clips here considerably

@@Frankie-Bleddyn Georgia is a state like that. As long as someone faster isn't coming up behind you (regardless whether they are speeding or not), then you can't be cited for driving in the left lane. But, once someone is there, you have to get over for them.

1:33 No, you’re not at fault, others are supposed to yield before passing if there’s an obstruction in the lane. That said, if youre asking internet strangers to deem you at or not at fault, you should brush up on your road laws before hitting the road again, regardless if you’ve been accident free your whole life.

For lying (the truck backing up) the driver should be FIRED! A company vehicle is a company asset, and those who use them need to take appropriate care. Lying makes an accident makes things even worse.

Benefit of the doubt: the cammer was distracted when starting to accelerate. She made an illegal move, but definitely did not hit the cammer's car. I'd say 80% her fault, 20% the cammer's.
