Set up the Classifier to run some drills. Ran it using an XDm in 97.08.

@saint194 The classifier stages are in the rulebook and on the IDPA website (idpa.com/classify1.asp) They are at 7, 10, 15, and 20 yards.

I recommend at least 4 mags for the classifier. Most of the time they will let you load past division capacity. For stage 1 load first mag with 15, second with 6, third at least 9. Stage 2 load first with 13, second with 5 and third with at least 12. Stage 3, first mag with 13, second with 13, and last with 10. The extra mag is just encase you need it. I had been shooting for about a year or so when I dod that video, that is a lot of local matches sanctioned matches.

From reading the IDPA rule book any time a Tactical Reload is is interchangeable with Reload with Retention. While it is actually a different reload method any time a string calls for Tactical Reload you can use either.

@Strick69 Kick-as$, dude. After 15 years of not shooting, I got back a couple of months ago and shot a 125. Trying to drop 15 seconds in the next few months and hopefully make Expert. Will use your video as a good baseline of where I need to get to. Cheers!

@chex22 I use Blade Tech holsters. Thanks for the comments, I should have recorded my 84 second run I did a month ago.

you can use either at stage 3, the tac reload is preferred for stage 3, string 2.

Thanks for posting this video. I'm using it as a "training aid" to help me get ready for my own classifier probably in June. I have two questions though. (1) How many mags did you bring? (2) Did you shoot any matches prior to the classifier, if so how many (ballpark)?

@johnsta83 I reload my own ammo. That was 124gr MG over 4.0 gr of titegroup.

@SirLoin16oz Yeah that time is factoring in the points.

Hi Strick69 I have a few suggestions for you who can help.. First correct starting position for strings with stronger and weaker hands ( stage 1 string 5 and 7 stage 2 string 4 ) In the third stage you have to use tactical reloading.. If the first and second stage try a little faster transfer from target to target in the third bring a tactical reloading with delay in the movement of the frame I am sure you will be able to bring it down another 5-6 seconds Best regards Vlada Vasić SOI Serbia

Nice shooting. Question: is your time of 97.08 after factoring in the additional time from points down? Thanks.

very nice shooting! I believe the rule book states "tactical reload" and not "reload with retention" on stage 3 correct?

What ammo are you shooting? Do you reload? If so, what's your load? Thanks!

Just found this vid, had to comment. Good shooting, the only thing I don't like is, practicing to shoot at a threat is good, holstering quickly is not a needed skill. Is that a practice in IDPA? I just joined the IDPA, haven't shot as yet, am trained to continue to look for possible other threats after shooting, scanning the area in front of, side of and rear of my working area. Just thinking if training to shoot possible bad guys training to make sure there are no otter threats would be also beneficial. Good video by the way

Holstering quickly becomes muscle memory just like drawing quickly does. I am sire he wasn't thinking about doing either the draw or reholstering fast. It just happens. This was a classifier shoot...think of it as a qualification to see what class you will shoot in an actual match. Why would you scan for targets when you know it isn't a scenario but simply a classifier.
