Less is more ! The "academic" part is not about how many complicated/uncommon phrases or words you know, it's about how much you can naturally blend in and effortlessly deliver your messages in the English native culture. This is the art of simplifying ! Say whatever you want in the comment section but this guy absolutely nailed it ! Band 9 well deserved !

I can relate. In my native language I can write thoroughly (my thesis supervisor even praised my style) but it takes time to determine and structure my thoughts. While speaking, I often stop to think, but the right words don't come to mind that quick, so eventually I say something silly to break the silence and awkwardly continue. I bet I sound like I have 2 brain cells 😅 And in the foreign language this difference between writing and speaking becomes even more noticeable...

I just figured out what my problem would be if i would take this exam. Lack of interest. If the guy would ask me about videogames, movies i would confidently talk about them for an hour. But describing an hotel i know ? Bro, i haven't leave the house for 20 days. I'm an introvert. But anyways, probs to this dude. He didn't use fancy words or complicated sentences. As a native English speaker even I would get a little stressed out with this test because of how specific these questions are but he did great! He spoke pretty fluently and answers everything without hesitation or taking large pauses. The only critique I'd give him is that he says filler words like "really/very" a lot along with "uh/um". Using these words isn't bad per say (I say "uh/um" too when trying to think about what to say next) but constantly saying "really/very" or "really really" two times in a row like at 7:03 can make you sound redundant, and in all honesty, makes the listener lose interest in what the speaker is saying. Most of the time you can just omit the excess word and you will still get your point across ("they had really good food" --> "they had good food") OR you can use a better synonym altogether ("they had really good food" --> "they had delicious food"). Again, I think he did great but this was something I noticed instantly from him.

@@hiennguyenthu624 then why do IELTS have a Speaking Score Chart? scores were calculated based on the chart *Fluency and Coherence *Pronunciation *Lexical Resource *Grammatical range and accuracy *Total IELTS Speaking Score. i saw some people speaking so fluently almost like a native speaker and so they got high marks in Fluency and Coherence but they got very low marks in Pronounciation and Grammar. It's how the overall (Total) score is caluculated. The chart is made for that. So your friend saying t's all about being confident and sounding like a native speaker can't be true in that case. The guy in ths video got 9 even tho there were so many grammatical errors (it will affect the Grammatical score area of the Score Chart) and words used were completely basic which is not how you get high marks in Lexical Resource. Either the examinors were biased or who knows what. But it's definitely not all about speaking fluent or confident

God, I wish I was as great at speaking English as him. I learned the language on my own so I'm not that confident. Personally I never went to a hotel before so if someone asked me all those questions related to hotels, I don't know how would I react. I would probably freeze then start panicking. I'm planning to take the IELTS test in the next four or five months after I make sure that I'm 100% or at least 90% ready for it to avoid getting bad grades since I don't have enough money to retake it over and over again till I get the score I desire. Thanks to this video I'm getting a little stressed honestly.

You always have two choices: be honest and tell that you have never been in a hotel before or just imagine a situation like this and describe it. People often forget that there are no correct answers. The main thing is speaking. Try to stop thinking about grammar or vocabulary and just explain your thoughts and ideas (criteria are important, but thinking about them influences your confidence). I really enjoyed a discussion with my examiner and got my desired score. I believe, it is a key to success: relaxation and joy. Good luck for you!

I have been repeating the exam in hopes of scoring a band 7 in every category. Sometimes the Part 2 question of the speaking portion strains my abilities. If I am familiar with the topic I can answer confidently. Otherwise I struggle to come up with a meaningful answer. Last week the examiner put up a question that asked , "Describe a law that you think would benefit the environment. What is the law? How would people react to the law?" I found this question challenging to answer. Since I only had a minute to think about law and governing, I did not have the best response. Not everyone has an instant answer to every question asked. I am not sure. How would you have answered this question?

@@azharkhan8796 same it would difficult for me too. But I would answer like this: In my country when people shopping in the supermarket they put the products in plastic bag which is not great for environment. I remember one day when I got home after shopping, I realized that government should to do something, they can make a law that will not give a permission to create anything with plastic. In my point of view this is the correct and easy way to keep our nature.I don’t think that other people will be disagree with this law because they also want to save our planet ,they want their kids growing up in good environment.I guess all humanity want to live healthy and happy life. I don’t know is this right answer, but when it is difficult for me I’m changing my answer a little bit 😁 the hardest part for me is READING 😢🥴🤭

Hi, my advise is just try to take it easy. I know you'll be under stress just like everyone right, but try to force yourself to think about it like a conversation between your friend and you, not an exam with an examiner. Coz in the end, the point of this speaking test is just to test your speaking ability to see whether you can be able to communicate or not :) so think about your examiner as your friend, feel free to express your self as natural as you can, use your body language, eye contact, grab a pen in your hand if you're worried too much. I did this a few years ago and got 8.0 for speaking skill so I assume it works :)

I really wish these examiners would learn how to interrupt someone politely and effectively. I understand the time restrictions, but you're interacting with another human being for goodness sake, so you should at least muster up the effort to speak to them like one. Just a "Sorry, I must stop you there." or "Apologies, that's all the time we have for part 1." It doesn't use up much time, and it really goes a long way.
