Thank you so so much!!!!! I gave IELTS GT 2 months back and got 998 and 6.5 in writing. I re-wrote it coz I needed 7 in writing. Literally, one night before the exam I chanced upon this link and I read this essay. Coincidentally something very similar came up in my writing section. I have scored 7 in writing now. In recent years, there has been a phenomenon of wasting food. This essay is to explain the causes of this trend and provide suggestions to keep it under control. Two factors are behind food wasting. The first is due to the rising level of household incomes which has allowed people to buy more food than what they actually need. The monthly median household income, for instance, is now 1000 dollars compared to $100 per month 30 years back. Higher incomes mean that spending a small chunk of salary on food every month seems less and less significant. Another cause of the change in having luxurious lifestyles possessed by a growing population. As people become wealthier, they tend to open more large parties to show off such valuable possessions, and to determine the sufficient amount of food for such parties is incredibly challenging. Hence, the trend of buying more food than needed to avoid invited guests staying hungry. The evidence of left-over food at the end of parties has become gradually common. One possible way to tackle the issue of discarding food unnecessarily is to raise public awareness. This can be done through various campaigns or television advertisements. XXX, an on-screen 10-second KZfaq commercial showing images of starving children in poverty of under-developed countries, has contributed greatly to help the public of the negative effects of irresponsible consumption and waste on a societal level. From looking at these images, people can realize the impact that food-wasting can have on the world and change their habits. Overall, each individual should be more responsible and play their part in combating the problem of wasted food. On a larger scale, governments, through media platforms, should implement initiatives to educate the public on the danger of consuming and wasting food. (305)

Hello. Thanks for the video. The analysis of the mark scheme was super helpful. I´ve got 2 main queries. You've not dealt at all with the "restaurant" aspect of the question, would this not be penalised in the task response mark? Also, in the conclusion you mention governments, yet nowhere in the essay have you talked about this. Would this lose you points on task response or coherenc and cohesion.
