@Furious Taco Warrior There is no before the big bang if time didn't exist as you say. In eternalism the universe doesn't appear at the beginning, rather the beginning is the earliest point in time. Try to understand that difference. Eternalism is more logically consistent than presentism and is confirmed by relativity. It means spacetime is an static object that cannot be created or destroyed. Assuming an infinite past instead, infinite regress is not a problem in eternalism, just like infinite space is not a problem in presentism. I agree with a necessary existance. That has to be reality itself, which the universe is only a part of. There is nothing necessary about god having preferences, morality, dogma and other flavor.

Hey Saboor. This video was recommended to me from a follower of yours in a comment thread on a video of your recent debate with Alex O'Connor. Thank you for this video and your ideas. Your perspective is different from any I've heard before, and I find it useful. I'll have to watch this again on another day, and think about how to constructively contribute to the conversation, before adding a substantive comment. However, we both agree that this is an important conversation to be having, which is a good starting point. I wish you the best, friend.

What is new in atheism? If there were a deity, don't you think it would be competent to let everyone know? Religious belief is artificial light. As if one should respect the suggestion, we all travel with one foot in fantasyland, using a fantasyland vocabulary. You know them by their works, so what does it tell you about those advocating prayer? Nothing fails like prayer in a children's hospital. Who advocates faith, when it is worthless if you can't move mountains using faith & verbal commands to landscape? What kind of person speaks of god as if we did not have a saying: God helps those helping themselves, because gods have a perfect record of doing nothing, outside of fiction. No wonder Feud wrote the antidote to Christianity is literacy.

So it is necessary and the external cause must be uncause because that would mean that there's an infinite regress this is the most rational and logical explaination for the existence of the universe we call the uncause cause The Creator,,The Maker,The Originator,The Initiator

How incredibly anecdotal and specific, taking a fascinating case study of a man who goes from a religious background to an atheist and back, which, is a far point to levy but is also incredibly misleading. Human’s aren’t so flat and simple that deciding to be an atheist means that there isn’t a long term goal or loss of reason for ones actions. The context of the entire “God is dead” statement is so much deeper that just “no god is bad”, it in fact was both a thought experiment and exploration of a pantheistic world (a world based on many gods as an argument against the idea of one god and a harmonious universe). Nietzsche also wasn’t saying that a world without god would lead to an existential crisis, he both implicitly and extremely explicitly used it to question how morality will change due to a dechristianisation of laws and teachings in everyday life. the motivation we ascribe to power cannot and does not rely on objective facts. it’s ridiculous and straw man like to say that only looking at goals set by what we consider a higher power are powerful when, if one is motivated enough, a goal set by oneself is incredible. It’s frankly insane how much context is ignored here, especially with your constant mention of Europe’s shift to atheist ideals. the most cited reason for atheistic shifts, especially in the west, is the first (or second) world war, this incredible loss of life and brutal slaughter caused many to lose their faith and abandon the worship of a God who stood by and let it happen. Science is objectively a worldview, your excellently misleading point of mathematics being unilateral doesn’t apply since looking at the world scientifically is just the simple way of being able to actually and perfectly explain why something happens in the universe, insignificant or not. nice job speaking about all atheists like it’s a unified group such as catholics or sunnis and not simply believing that there isn’t a God. You’ve declared that atheistic goals (making a change in the world based on ones own decision or motivation) is an invalid idea, based on assuming and generalising about people going “it’s all just atoms” and saying that people thinking about that, something; that I and many other atheists I know consider a lot, makes us thinks there is no motivation or reason for anything. On the point of motivation, saying that motivation or drive becomes fallacy under a scientific perspective is nearsighted since we tend to cite wants or needs, caused by an incredible amount of chemical reactions causing serotonin production. I simple terms: we like doing good because we’ve been taught to be good or know right, and therefore do things to do good with or without a faith. Hell! Nihilism doesn’t even refer to one way of thinking, you should say existential nihilism! because actually at least seven (some are in debate) Jesus this is so tunnel visioned and disregarding of the multifaceted nature of human beings and our wants, motivations and cares. You’re acting like american atheism (the kind of atheism that tries to convince you to become atheist) is all atheism or in anyway a consistent mentality.
@peacefulpresentation83303 жыл бұрын
@Psych Slow It's not but ok. American atheism is the typical brand of atheism that you see going out and taking the same sort of spirt of evangelization but use it for atheism. ie going up to someone in a hijab and acting like it's an outdated and sexist tradition that isn't done by choice. I branded it amercian atheism beacuse it's typically atheists from america that I see acting like their way of life or beliefs are superior.

I agree with you whole heartedly that there are atheists with a sense of innate superiority and that is wrong. everyone’s view should be considered equally, however i feel that verifiable fact should always take precedent. the teachings of the prophet Mohammad supposedly given to him by god are generally some very well thought out and rational guidelines for living and treating others. of course i have my reservations with some teaching but that point still stands.

The idea that atheism would mean you have no values, purpose or hope is nonesensical. It only means you live by your own values and purpose, not by what some man wrote in a book over 2000 years ago. Steve Jobs said it best, everything that was created or said before you, was created or said by a man no smarter than you. By this philosophy which i think is very valid, your values and purpose is something you yourself create or live by. Does this mean the values and purpose of every man will be of the good kind? Of course not, but it would be extremely biased to make the argument that every man that lives by for example Islamic, Christian or Jewish values is practicing a doctrine that's only good. As an atheist i found this discussion as an improvement of the world, cause i learnt a lot. Subboor Ahmad really has a remarkable ability to analyze *some* things. The reason why i liked this might be because its so interesting that i forgot about my nihilistic reality. However it surprised me that you failed to make the same connection to Islam after coming to the conclusion that our make beliefs are no different, in this respect. I am trying to argue that if my personal make belief in value is no different than yours then how could it fill any other functions than mine? Which was as you said was to distract us from thinking about what it means to be human. Islam fills this need for you, however in a more effective way since this distraction from existence claims to be true. I on the other hand cant find a universally true answer to the meaning of life, since i am truthful to myself. I have to build my make beliefs on things i believe to be true. Which currently only is one thing, and that is that i exist (I think therefor i am). Why? (This is where my make beliefs starts) because of Evolution. This is why most of the things i value come from an evolutionary point of view. I would disagree with Richard Dawkins saying that survival of the fittest doesn't apply to our modern world and that it would be bad if it did. The environment have simply changed as it always does, survival of the fittest as a concept is still at play, and that's a good thing. I enjoy food, good relationships, sleep, interesting discussions, exercise and so forth. I have my ups and downs just like anyone else and i have learnt to accept it. If the only times i truly can be happy is when i am distracted from what it means to be here and what the inevitable end is then so be it.

The title is very specific, 'Atheism to Nihilism' what do you expect? And he did mention the difference very briefly, but that wasn't the main topic. There are many other debates, videos that u can check out by suboor if you are interested his stance on darwinism such as the one with Aron Ra, with cosmiskeptic on morals. You can't just jump directly to Islam. You first have to conclude there has to be God. That God has to be the only God. And then carry on from there. So it is pretty logical not a fantasy. Check out Hamza tzortzis and muhammad hijab. Their arguments with atheists, why they think of Islam as the ultimate truth. As for the last para, that's exactly what he is talking about, for people seeking the Truth it isn't enough. It may look like you are having fun, maybe for now,but it will eat you from inside. People think that material will bring them happiness but it doesn't. which is why such ideas took birth in the first place. You can not lie to yourself forever. That was the whole point. You missed it.
@aishaarshadalam34124 жыл бұрын
Islam doesn't distract you from thinking about being human. It's literally a reminder to be the best of what a human can be to ensure that when our Judgement comes we will have a good hereafter. Some of the most prominent ideas in Islam are so overwhelmingly human. Charity for instance. The attitude you have with your neighbours and work people. How you treat your parents and family. Maybe I've misunderstood what you said.

@@Gokul-305 It looks like you replied to my comment but I can't see it here. I couldn't read the full comment but in answer to your question if who created Allah, the question is wrong. It's like asking can a square be a circle. Allah is uncreated. He is eternal, He begets not nor was He begotten. There is nothing comparable unto Him. He isn't human and He isn't comparable to anything we know. He is unique and there is only One of Him. If He was created then you'd just be forger asking who created whatever created Allah and so on. A square is not a circle. Allah is not created. It's completely logical when you think about it.
