Mirage is genuinely my favorite specialization. I’ve always been a mesmer main, and when PoF came out and I turned my girlie into a Mirage, it was like something clicked for me in a way that Chronomancer hadn’t. I love how fast paced it is, and I always feel like I’m doing something! I actually was less hyped about Virtuoso in EoD bc it looked cool in all but I just couldn’t see a world where it could better suit me than Mirage! Anyways I’m just so glad to see some Mirage love because basically every other Mesmer main I’ve met plays either Chronomancer or Virtuoso. So many people are sleeping on this incredible spec!

I love Mirage in PvE, although in more recent times I've been running the Virtuoso specialization a lot more. You could say that I don't have a "proper" main, although I play my mesmer, warrior, and guardian more than the other classes and I quite often rotate between all the classes. I am very much a jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none. Being the alt-o-holic that I am, it becomes whatever I feel like playing for the day. Because I switch classes a lot, I'm always learning something new about the game and I've been playing since launch!

Hah I’m the same way as you. My true main is a Guardian since release day but my other favorites are Elementalist, Reaper, Mirage and Thief. I am quite good on my Guardian and Elementalist on all game modes but the rest of my characters are a bit lack luster. I’m always bouncing around between them 😂

Staff/Staff condi Mirage is insanely tanky, one of the best specs for world content and pretty chill to play. My alltime fav build :)

I don't think it can be tanky without toughness gear, it just straight up doesn't receive any damage at all by dodging.

I picked staff Mirage exactly because of that. As a new player I thought it would be helpful to have a character that can handle all the open world stuff alone, which it very much can. Which is the opposite experience I had as a guardian, dying all over the HoT areas my first time, with my naive talent choices.

I have some mobility issues and there are some really good ‘low intensity’ builds for Mirage out there that are well worth a look. I’d initially thought there wasn’t any point even trying Mirage until a Guild member pointed me in that direction.

Mirage is so cool. I changed my main from Dragonhunter to Firebrand to Holosmith to Soulbeast to Holosmith to Firebrand to Holosmith to Mirage. But I use Axe/Torch and Scepter/Torch. I might have to give the Pistol a try.

In all the years I have played GW2, the Mesmer is my least played. I could for the life of me not figure the class out. I wanted to give it a proper chance, and found an excellent Mirage GS/GS build with energy on kill and weapon swap. The amount of lasers coming from me and my Illusions is insane. It bumped the class from second worst to top 3.

I usually run staff and axe/pistol mirage with either celestial stats or ritualist and it gets me through all content, including endgame but haven't tried raids. As a beginner on mirage I ran toughness/vitality/condition damage and had 30k hp and a ton of tankiness. The customisability with mirage allows you to pretty much run any mesmer traits depending on your preference. E.g. dodge roll gives a clone, or just use the phantasm skill and 2 deception skills to generate 3 clones is more advanced (but fairly easy when u get the hang of it). The one thing I would add is in open world against squishy mobs it's pretty slow to kill them so if you get aggro and get cut off from a zerg it can be annoying. To be fair the axe set is quite fast at chunking down trash mobs but that's a general problem for Condi specs in open world - power kills the trash much faster.

Im at best an average player. Ive been using this for a month. It is just sooo good. Been soloing Champions (including Bounty Champs), though some i cant kill (but i dont go down). It is the best build for people who likes to do their own thing own PvE

I don't have a main. But weaver and virtuoso I play a lot. I haven't messed with the mirage but it's interesting and have been thinking about it. Especially with the dagger ambush adding massive torment, bleed, and daze. Seems really good with the mesmers interrupt traits. And fighting a mirage is a pain because, I have no issues with mesmer and there clones but a melee mirage with target break. I have a hard time not killing the wrong one and when I finally do get the right one.. they break target and then I'm dead

As a pve only player the mirage is for me a real bless, i play it with a more bulkier build, so i gave it condi toughness and play it with axe/sword, scepter/pistol, which means, i have two blocks, my dodges, axe 2 and distortion to evade dmg. Which means i am able to survive quite a bit of fights. As utility spells i use oasis, reflectbubble, the mirage swap spell and mirage elite. Reglect for as defense but also gor a good combo field. Thats my go to, well i have to survive build. Imo its a little lackluster against single targets but it provide good wave clear and can prolong fights almost endlessly

Mirage is my main in wvw. I staff at a distance then port in on the ones with low health and finish them. I can go right through an injured Zerg and reap many bags

Mesmer with mirage or virtuoso is na amazing class for every aspect of a game for both new players and veterans (chrono is great too but it requires some experience and playtime to understand it)

I love mirage and if ur playing staff staff with cele or trailblazer, u can solo anything in open world :P and even some fractals. But rn in groups its kind of stressful to play if ur an alac build. Also i really do not like axe in pvp or wvw, if u kite with staff and use sword or scepter on swap ur gonna have a much better time. However they are gonna make some changes to mirage next patch. I"m hoping its not a nerf again, but even if its stupid it might still happen.

Didn't they nerf staff/staff condi mirage recently(1month ago)? Less alac so you need ritualist gear to keep up alac full time I believe.

You should try Mirage, I'm enjoying it over the past few weeks trying it. As a new player, I almost picked Chronomancer, but I read a lot about how it had very complicated rotations, and if you manage to learn it well, it only has average output. I still want to try it, but it's going to be the last specialization I learn.

I wanted to get into mesmer for years, but it never clicked till dbl staff condi mirage. That was my doorway. Now I'm getting enough baseline understanding with mesmer I can try other builds, but staff mesmer is still the champ killer goat. I still don't like the movement with axe. Feels off-rhythm for me. Kind of off topic, but you might try Hizen's open world weaver build. For me it felt way better than cata. Faster, more fluid, but also incredible sustain. I never died and great dps for an open world build.

Swap your weapons; it's Axe/Torch + Sword/Pistol -- trust me on this. It'll make sense when you use it. With 3 clones, Axe 3->shatter 3->Axe 2->Torch 5->Torch 4->shatter 1. I'd choose Domination (bot-top-mid) instead of Illusion only due to the amount of Vuln you can stack making either direct and condi dmg even more potent. Pistol 5 shines with Domination trait. As for your stun break, it should be Mirror Images. You don't need Blink since you can already shadowstep with Axe 3. The low CD on Blink is tempting but target breaking plus 2 clones is even better for both offense and defense. And if you noticed, you don't need to break stun that often -- besides you have the Signet as backup. Now for your 3rd utility skill, I'll be honest, Crystal Sand sucks, the nerf on Confusion killed this skill. What you want with the Mirage is to activate Ambush as much as you can, so the skill you need is Illusionary Ambush.

Viper mirage is unsane, you dont need changes in gear as long as you run axe pistol/staff chaos mirage. I run build close to the damage meta, but not exactly. This is the only damage class that can kill sono legendary champions with full glasscannon gear, the traits and skills however need some tweaking to allow that to happen.

Mesmer is one of the unique classes to guildwars, can’t really find anything similar anywhere else, I been maining one forever. I prefer mirage over virtuoso on fights where it makes sense. (Btw all classes in gw2 are melee orientated).

As a new player, playing from the beginning a couple months ago, I think the staff/staff version of Mirage is not complicated at all, with great results, especially survivability around the open world. They also say Necromancer, Ranger, and Guardian are the easier classes too. But seems like all the classes have DPS specializations, so you may not have to worry.

Mirage not good in open world is not true. You just have to play the right build! you can go celestial builds or even rabbid to perform well on Mirage in the open world. the staff and scepter/torch together make for a really good combo to be used. Mirage can also solo Champion gold level monsters which are considerd to be group content. I highly advise you to check open world builds of Mirage, its considered Legendary tier for open world.
