I never took any m0rw then 2MG a day, I know everyone is effected differently but I decided to cut my dose in half about 2 years ago, and I'm still having brutal night sweats.

The problem with suboxone for me was the complete absence of desire for any form of social contact, as well as the testosterone suppression. I absolutely could not enjoy lifting weights, regardless of how hard I tried my strength was capped at about the level it was during high school when I was 140lbs. Having said that without the sublocade injection I never would have gotten off. Anyone who wants to get off suboxone, switch to sublocade. You can just stop getting the injection when you feel ready and there is NO tangible WD symptoms. I'm 6 months off and have experienced nothing, but feel incredible and am strong once again.

Then you’re on too much. You don’t need 16mg a day. We all know how powerful bupe is. Don’t lie to yourself. At most one strip a day. Start tapering yourself down. 4mg a day and I guarantee those feelings go away. It’s all mental.

I stopped my Suboxone treatment a few months back and the universe has been sending me multiple messages, daily. I’ve become so much more in tune with my family and friends. My dopamine is gradually coming back and I’m enjoying life again. You are so much more than you think you are. And with that said, you need to remember that you are not your thoughts. It’s quite the opposite. To remind yourself of that, simply ask yourself; “What’s my next thought going to be?” Like Aaron said, it’s all in your head. You decide if you want to see yourself as a shell or if you want to see yourself as the limitless being that you truly are. You got this.

@@T.R.Y.1313 if he’s feeling that way then he’s on too much. Not one single person on this earth needs that much bupe. They overprescribe the shit out of it for money. Drop your dose to two or four mgs a day and all that goes away. Get off the couch and stop eating McDonald’s and you’ll feel like Superman. It’s an overall health scenario. When you’re on a powerful opiate, are lazy, depressed and not moving you brain and body fall apart. There’s nothing wrong with needing help getting sober, there is something wrong with taking more than you need and trying to few high again without the negatives of drug use. The problem is there are different negatives and 90% of this comment section is in fairy tale land blaming it on the drug instead of their poor behaviors and bad decision making skills.

I’ve been in stasis for the past 10 years on suboxone. Little to no passion. Gained weight because I didn’t care how I looked. Been tapering off the past 2 years (more aggressively the past year) and I’m feeling things I haven’t felt in a decade. Music is painfully beautiful again. My husband and I are becoming closer again. But the worst thing is the anxiety I haven’t felt in a decade is rushing in and I’m completely unequipped to handle it because I’ve been numb for so long. Pretty sure my thyroid disease stemmed from opiate abuse and I’ll never be the same again. I can’t speak for anyone else but using suboxone long term and not even trying to get off of it to see if I could stay clean has been one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

There’s nothing wrong with being on Suboxone - aside from when you’ve been on it for too long, the well dries up, you’re low on dopamine, and you’d rather die than be alive or quit the medication. I think a lot of patients tend to forget how much better they felt sober, and they’re so stuck in the addict mindset - which Suboxone can help or worsen, that they’re afraid to give it a shot. But the fact is that being on a long half life opioid like Suboxone DOES affect your brain function and absolutely dulls life for most people. It’s happened to 99% of the people I’ve talked to. I think people are just so terrified to quit or have a reason to stop taking it that they make excuses like this for it - I’ll go back to thinking about using all the time. So why not (instead of using a MAT drug) get into therapy, try psychedelic therapy, get into mindfulness, anything to help heal the underlying issue of addiction? Because it’s a lot of work. And this is where Suboxone IS very beneficial, you put time between yourself and the last high, you can stabilize your life, but then what? Just continue being an addict forever? I mean, if you’re still going into mild withdrawal every morning and every afternoon, and you’re still going to think about using without it - don’t you think you’re neglecting the “recovery” part of recovery? This is such a common problem and it boggles my mind, but healthcare is so poor in this country, people just don’t realize what they need to actually work on their recovery. They’d rather put it off and stay a functioning addict than even try fixing the whole issue itself. And listen, I get it, addiction is multi faceted and recovery is not one size fits all. It’s why I don’t think everyone should be in AA or NA, BUT I do think everyone should try the 12 steps. I mean look, if you want to stay a functioning addict and you’re happy with that, that’s your right. If people want to keep feeding into that MAT industry for the rest of their life and have that added expense, that’s cool with me. I’m just saying that it’s a bit ignorant to assume you can never fully recover without even attempting it - or to assume your life is only going to be as good as it is on the medication, when we know how much it dampens brain function. And I’ve seen that many many people who stay on suboxone eventually want to get off, because like with ANY dopaminergic drug as powerful as an opioid, the well eventually dries for most people, and quality of life ends up quite low. If you’re thinking about getting well and clean again, completely, I believe in you. If you truly want to stay a functioning addict on MAT forever, I support that too, I’m just saying consider all your options, and realize that you don’t HAVE to be a slave your entire life.

A person can do anything they set their minds to it's just excuses that hold them back. The word I can't is just an excuse not to stop. It's a crutch. These people can get off, if I can do it cold turkey so can they. Withdrawal symptoms are inevitable they're going to happen no matter what. I had stage 3 cancer back in 2013, the doctors had me on 320 oxycodone 30s a month plus liquid Dilaudid and liquid morphine and methadone for over six years my neighbors that used to live next door to me stole all my medication while I was using the restroom. The doctors refuse to fill it and told me to go to a suboxone clinic instead I told them to f*** off. I locked myself in my room and went through massive withdrawals for over a month. On a scale of 1 to 10 ten being the worst. Stage 3 cancer was an 11 withdrawal symptoms was a 4. I am stuck with two ostomy bags for the rest of my life I am always going to be in pain but I would rather learn to live with my pain, than use it as a crutch and let it control my life. Addiction is not a disease, addiction is a choice. The truth will always hurt no matter how it said, sadly most people can't handle the truth.

Kratom is a much better alternative, it is not a narcotic, but takes the pain away just like a narcotic does. Also I know at least 12 people that were addicts that chose to go with kratom instead of going with Suboxone or methadone and they have now been clean for over a year. the FDA only wants to ban kratom because they are losing customers and then they can't claim the opioid pandemic anymore.

@@druarmenta3900 this isn’t good advice. There is no one size fits all for something like this. Yes, being on suboxone is far better than being on heroin or fentanyl but it does suppress emotions and affects your brain chemistry. I have every confidence in myself that I won’t relapse because of where I am in life so I am ready to get off sub (down to .06 mgs per day and about to jump) but of course this isn’t the case for everyone. The advice to give is that if you have concerns about relapsing you need to tread lightly or consider staying on until you have more confidence in your ability to stay clean. But saying “don’t get off of it” is the worst advice to give to someone with circumstances you know little to nothing about.

I've always been close to God and had a great relationship with Him, but I was wondering why this past year I haven't been myself spiritually and I haven't been able to give myself to God like I used to and I told myself it was these drugs that were affecting me this dramatically and it's just so crazy to hear someone else say it and know what it feels like but still not be able to stop.. Man I could cry right now, I just want my life back.

@@shawnshawn1366Sorry to hear that man. I've laid off of them and my relationship with God is so great. I still struggle with them from time to time though, so obviously I can't get to that full intimacy I'm speaking about. It's just crazy to think about how much control these things have over your body. It's hard but I encourage you to pray and never cease. I've been to Spiritual Renewal, Freedom Groups, etc. without speaking a word of what I was struggling with, which I kinda regret because I could've gotten more prayers. I feel God working in me because i'm not giving up. You'll make it back and make it through. Just keep reaching for God, because when you keep your faith through everything, even the times when you can't fully feel or believe, He will never take His hands off of you. When you pray and keep reaching for Him, He will meet you halfway. I promise! Sorry for the long paragraph, I just felt something telling me to let you know! Much love.

You could get off at any time. Withdrawals are inevitable. You can either choose to do them before the being put on Suboxone and methadone like I did it cold turkey and it sucked but it was way better than being a statistic like you are and every other Suboxone patient that's been on it for five years longer saying that they can't get off of it. You can try using kratom to get off of it or mean down slowly off of it or you could choose to do it cold turkey but a lot of people are very weak minded and his relapse and pull the same crap all over again. Suboxone is just a Band-Aid to not go through withdrawals at the moment, but you will go through those withdrawals hardcore later.

@@lie380 This is a typical excuse I would expect from a drug addict, "you think you know me". Hell yeah I know the excuses every drug addict makes. 10 years in and you're still on Suboxone. Withdrawal symptoms only lasts a month yet you're on it for 10 years. you can jump off at any time. A person can do anything they set their minds to its excuses that that hold them back in life. I got off of the 320 oxycodone 30mg the doctors had me on for 5-and-a-half years plus liquid morphine and liquid Dilaudid and fentanyl while I was battling cancer. The difference between a cancer patient and a regular addict is cancer patients we have already been through the worst pain of and withdrawals is like having the regular flu. I'm going to guess that you have never been through the worst pain of your life and that's the reason why you can't stop. On a scale of 1 to 10 ten being the worst having a football-sized tumor in my abdomen was like an 11 and withdrawal symptoms was like a two. I did it cold turkey meanwhile the next door neighbor that lives next to me six years later he's still on Suboxone complaining that he will never stop until the doctor tells him too and that's never going to happen. I am sick of seeing on every street corner by my house Suboxone signs with a phone number on it. It is just a Band-Aid so you don't go through withdrawals until after you're addicted to another and there's no narcotics to wean off that one. All I've seen with people that are on Suboxone do turn around and sell their Suboxones then go back to doing drugs then going back to the Suboxones and back to doing drugs and then back to the Suboxones all over again. You can do anything you set your mind to, the excuses you making life are what hold you back.

I been on suboxone for 4 and a half years straight this tjme around. I had all kinds of health issues which I know are caused by the suboxone. I been on a very low dose the past 2 years. It gets tough under 2 mg. I have way less side effects at the lower dose and I want to get completely off this poison. I am doing a long slow taper and just recently cut from 1.5 mg to 1 mg. Its been a month and I definitely feel mild withdrawal late at night and early in the morning before I dose. At the same time I feel my personality slowly coming back. I know I will have a better life when I am off it completely. I plan to talk to my doctor about getting off it. I will cut my dose again when I feel ready. I had to get on hrt because my estrogen was basically zero. It definitely takes a toll on the body. My blood work was showing elevated liver enzymes and hypothyroidism but after lowering my dose and doing cleanses along with healhier eating I was able to get these things under control

Suboxone is all well and good until you have to come off of the suboxone. People go from being dependent on the drug dealer to being dependent on the suboxone doctors. Anyone that has got off suboxone will tell you that there are some serious long lasting withdrawals. Unless you literally stay on sub for the rest of your life, there is going to be a time that you have to suboxone withdrawals. The longer you are on it, the worse the withdrawal will be.

Withdrawals are inevitable. You can either choose to go through withdrawals. Or go to a suboxone clinic and get addicted to another to narcotic just because you're too weak-minded to go through withdrawals I need a Band-Aid to cover up the effects. A person can do anything they set their minds to it's just the choices and excuses a person makes that holds them back in life. Before you get offended like most people do. I've gone through withdrawals cold turkey after my neighbor stole all the medication that my doctors had me on because I was going through cancer. I had the choice to go to a suboxone, but instead I said f*** no and went through withdrawals for over a month. Withdrawals was nothing compared to stage 3 cancer on a scale I wanted to ten ten being the worst and 1 being the least worst. Cancer was 11 and withdrawals was a 4. I'm so sick of people calling addiction a disease, and I'm so sick of hearing addicts say they can't stop. If I can get off all the narcotics the doctors had me on by myself so can everybody else. Strong-minded people we see that mountain and we climb it until we defeat it and then go on to the next challenge. Weak-minded people choose to come up with every excuse in the and repeatedly make them same mistakes over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. It's like listening to the boy that cried wolf with suboxone. If you can pick the drug up.... Then you can put the drug down at anytime. Y'all know the consequences before you pick drug up. And it's truly sad when cancer patients have to pay for their medication but drug addicts get their medication for free especially narcan. I have no sympathy for people that complain about withdrawals when they have never been to the worst pain of their lives.

But if I'm not ready at the moment I don't think it would be better if I stopped. It would be vetter if I felt I was ready to stop. Overtime when on buprenorphine your brain is able to heal back to normal, other than your opiate receptors. So he admitted something most addicts feel.. the problem with dope is everything caused by it being illegal. The inflated price, chasing down a dealer, not getting jacked, not getting arrested, not getting used or tricked by other users, and all the other side effects of it being illegal, which explains why they always worry and premeditate every moment around getting having it and doing it. This proves that if you can get a reliable consistent and unadulterated product for a realistic price or covered by insurance that the actual effect of the drug itself is not the biggest obstacle. Obviously suboxone is partial and a full O causes more effects but it’s legal status produces most of the negative aspects.

Do you have evidence that the Suboxone is what caused your kidney disease? Or is it more of a correlation, meaning, your kidney disease started after you started taking Suboxone? Is it possible you were taking pain meds with lots of acetaminophen for years before getting on Suboxone? For most people, being on Suboxone is going to be much safer than taking 10 to 20 hydros a day. I was ingesting around 6000 mg of acetaminophen every day when I was on painkillers. That can’t be good for the kidneys and liver. A neighbor of ours recently went into kidney failure, and she uses fentanyl.

Lol. Suboxone or Buprenorphine is absolutely prescribed for pain. And it does work for some people. Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist, meaning it fully binds to the receptor but does not fully activate it. Hence a lesser effect. It may not be as commonly prescribed as others but it certainly is and can be used in such a way....esp if you are non opiate/opioid tolerant.

I heard this lady say how her daughter came home from jail like her old self the way she used to be then the next week she gets a call from the hospital after her daughter had spent the night at a friend's house where she took her usual dose and it killed her. Overdosing is the worst feeling.

There’s no way in hell she didn’t experience withdrawals. And gabapentin is one of the worst things you can take. It is the worst drug to get on. And the worst drug to get off. You will have withdraws times 100 trying to get off gabapentin. My suggestion all of you don’t even try it. I was on Suboxone and then I had some herniated disc and I didn’t want to take any opiates for the pain. So my doctor prescribed me gabapentin and told me it wouldn’t cause addiction and that it was safe to use. Needless to say five years later and I can’t get off the goddamn gabapentin. Every time I try I get so incredibly sick that I can’t even function. I can literally kill my doctor. Stay away from that shit.

It’s way too strong in my opinion…there is no reason to make it that strong cuz honestly it’s the worse opioid to come off! I feel there is something flawed about this compound! I’ve been on 1.5 mg for a year and it’s impossible to come down having to go to work and take care of kids I feel I will be on that shit forever! And how to we know how much is really absorbed under the tongue?! The withdrawls are nothing compared to oxy’s! Way worse! Why is it the worse to come off when it’s suppose to be the best opioid to take for dépendance makes no f**** sense! I feel like shit most of the time I often get sick in the morning too! It should not stay and stick that long on the receptors!! They need to change the recipe!!

Have you ever had suboxone WD? what if an emergecy happens and you cant get your script for next month? You will be totally useless, in great pain of WD, and thre is nothing you can do to fix it. You completely rely on that medication - liquid handcuffs.

Life gets better with suboxone however it can be better without it. Once you stabilize on Suboxone for about a year and have healed some of the trauma of your active addiction I think life would be better without the Suboxone because the Suboxone blocks the effects of meditation . It also dulls spirituality. Thats for me.

Exactly....your brain is still being saturated with an opioid, albeit a partial agonist. U may not feel any effect, i dont either when i take my 8mg(or half) dose. Your not supposed to feel anything.....that would be getting high. But there is still an effect on the brain and body, especially over time. I've been on almost 4yrs and its def time to start thinking about coming off. It really is for the best. But hey, to each their own, only you know what is best for you. But these meds were not meant to be a lifelong thing. Thats addiction.

I’ve been on Suboxone for almost 7 years after becoming injured while serving in the infantry.. I’ve tapered slowly and failed many times..I was taking 0.25 for 6 months then just a tiny piece then almost dipping my finger in dust …im one week since my last dose and it’s no joke any sort of mental illness that was muted comes back up…but the restlessness when trying to sleep makes me insane ….Taper very slowly don’t rush that’s the best advice I can give..don’t take a little extra on hard days….if you want your life back the way it was like I did you’ll get off it and deal with the pain and uncomfortable days ahead..when your ready …or you’ll take it the rest of your life as most do..:) good luck !

@truckingwithtobee

May I ask why was it a mess? Donely thing I can think of it being a mess is if they gave it to you too soon when you still had opiates in your system. If that’s the case it will make you deathly sick. You have to have that shit out of your system for a good 48 to 72 hours before you even attempt to take Suboxone.

So that’s awesome and good for him! I CAN imagine a better life, and not having to take a medication everyday would be part of it. Not to mention having my full range of emotions back where I can fully feel them, belly laughs like I rarely get ( used to regularly before sub) saving the money every month on script and doc visits, tooth/gun recession, I could go on with cons of subs but hey, I’m alive! I also haven’t done heroin in almost 10 years. Def want to get off subs tho, it’s a goal for me personally. Oh one of the worst which vaping doesn’t help but the chronic dehydration subs causes me and only seems to get worse with time.
